as i saw a thread about modding i thought i'd step in this is not a flamewar thing or anything i am just curious what people think about mods

mods to me are extremely important mods allow you to do what you want instead of following rules many may know me as a heavy modder but i feel like the game should be played properly before messing with it i for example will never mod (use cheat codes) a game first thing when i get it first i will play through it's story untill i get tired of it when i feel i have done everything i want to do in the game only then will i start to mod it modding

there are two different kinds of mods serious mods being real advancements like enb series realistic handling realistic cars

and stupid but fun mods being my type of mods that includes anything thats fun unique theres the back to the future delorean kitt etc nothing realistic just unique

i honestly think modding adds replay value to the game i won't argue with the fact that the game should be played as it is and then be modded later on

i have always been a modder ever since my dad introduced me to modding when i was a kid he told me i could change the cars in midtown madness 2 after that i started modding san andreas using a program called san andreas mod installer i have great memories from that

to me modding is a really important part of games i quit battlefield 3 for example because they never released any mods for it it eventually got old if it had mods imagine what could exist maybe a nice made up future conversion similar to battlefield 2142 or battlefield vietnam the possibilities are endless mods dosn't have to mean making the game silly or funny it can mean alot of great things dayz is a mod in itself and look at that

VALVe for example is based on modding

to me modding is not a bad thing and it shouldn't be compared to cheating modding is making the game fun for your own personal enjoyment cheating is to ruin the game for everyone else completely different things mods can however still be used online but only the fun factor of it you can for example use custom objects creating a map and play around with loops with your friends theres so much great things

i just thought i'd share what i think about modding and see what others think i hate when we modders are treated as scum because of cheaters we are nothing alike

i only use mods that enhance graphics, animations, textures and also those that replace vehicles with real life cars, that are usually look way much better than vanilla vehicle models originally introduced by R*...does anyone remember how sh*tty cars look in vanilla version? ...does anyone remember how it changes when you install those fancy looking BMW M3, that replaces old dusty and rusty Sentinel or Admiral?...thats my point!...try it before bitching how modding ruins games...

Offline modding is fine (as long as people don't take credit for the work of others) but the problem is that the MP cheating mods depend on the work of offline modders, sometimes directly. There can't be one without the other, and your poll does not reflect that.

As long as modding does not become a very big issue on consoles, it should be fine.

If it does manage to get on consoles, ill be okay with it unless someone spams objects, or starts cheating

It would be nice if they implemented a system that autodetects the game files for any corruption, and if it finds a modification, it will output something along the lines of "Modified files, multiplayer session aborted." I guess those who want to play online and mod could make two installations. But anyway, YES I would love if Rockstar wen the way of Bethesda with a creation kit.

Not only do I want modding in GTA V but I also want it to be officially supported by R*. I DO NOT want mods to be present online and wish to keep the multiplayer experience competitive and untouched. Modding of offline aspects is very important to me, especially after beating the game. I'm hoping we'll have a better idea of what to expect when and if R* answer's my question regarding official support for modding on the next ask and answered.

If the game is optimized, yes. I liked mods in IV, but viewing videos online, it appeared having ICEnhancer on only gave you about 40FPS with a GTX690! One things for sure though, if they have dedicated servers, it would probably be mod crazy.

To those commenting on how you're not playing on the PC, don't constantly hit the topic with it -- it's about modding, not about whether or not you have a console.

Modding would be very nice on console's, but the only way I see that ever happening is if we get official support from R*. Even then I'm sure console users would be limited with what could be done or edited but it would at-least be a step in the right direction.

Not exactly modding like PC modding, but I hope similarities with SA on console version. Car modding, tons of clothes, color options etc. That alone adds lot of replay value. For PC version RS should release modding tools. Remember Max Payne 1?

Modding has done wonders for the shelf life of GTA San Andreas on the PC (with the downgrade patch that is). Why not continue on that path? It gives people the opportunity to show off their creativity.
