Never owned one, nor was I ever upset about that fact, but these guys are cute. Especially the original late 90's ones. If I had kids/nieces, I'd probably be tempted to buy these for them.

Never had one.

Just another fad that even as a child I refused to subscribe to.

I found the exact one my sister had (and of course a few more). Try watching cartoons with your sister, knowing this is directly behind you. I know a lot of my cousins had them when they first came out (girl cousins) and a few girls from school. I guess if I had no option, I would give them to a young girl relative of mine as a birthday present or something (or at least one of them).

My mum got one off my dad for christmas one year, but I never wanted one of them. I remember they brought out some sh*t version for McDonald's happy meals toys, and some kid brought like 5 to school showing off, then had them confiscated. That shut him up. They were pretty creepy though, furbies? More like scarebies! Hurr hurr hurr.

I'm sorry.

My mom loved furbies, but she never had more than like four. My grandmother has one too. I got one for my eighth birthday but I broke it.

Here's the one I remember, except it had a white stomach:

Oh god. This is the one I had as kid, it's still laying around somewhere. The eyes really creeped me out, when I got older at least. Anyway, I always used to the collect these when I was younger, and I remember this one was my favorite.

Does anyone else remember when there was a brief scare that furbys were actually being used as robot spies for the Chinese?

Even to this day they are banned in US Government Agencies.

Yup. Crazy...

During their first release my mother-in-law was a manager at Walmart and she bought one. It was during the crazy time when people were stampeding over each other to get one and the stores were selling out in seconds. When she was leaving some lady was crying because she didn't get one and said "thanks for ruining my daughters christmas" to my mother-in-law.

Creepy little f*ckers; I have to admit that there have been times I've thought about picking up a few.

so that puts us what, a trillion years from true AI and a terminator/matrix/most sci-fi movies scenario where computers and machines have got self awareness and take over humanity? good to know.

Yes we're safe!

Unless the Pentagon are secretly label the Furbies as the most advanced whilst they create a Terminator which they will then send back in time to kill The Doc and Marty McFly to ever prevent the means of time travel ever being created therefore prevent the death of John Connor and thus causing us the win the inevitable war against the machines!
