In your opinion what is your favorite horror game series from the list. If its not there, hit other and say below. Mine is Resident Evil, because of the storyline and characters.
Followed by dead space.

While I haven't played near most of the games from that list, FEAR is probably one of my favourite horror games / games of all time. I am talking about the first FEAR though, I felt it was the one that had the best suspense and spooky scenes compared to the other two (although in the beginning of FEAR 2 when you're walking around and Alma appears randomly, that always gets me). There's just something about a little innocent-seeming girl who turns out to have the ability to shred and liquify people that gets me.

Also never buy FEAR 3. You have been warned.

I'd say Left 4 Dead, even though it's not on the list confused.gif the gameplay is just so much fun, and multiplayer is one of the best ever.

I've never played Dead Space or a Resident Evil game though, so they might be better, L4D is the best I've ever played though.

You will hate me, but I had a lot of fun playing Zombies in Black Ops.

From that list, I'd say Silent Hill - though I've never played it, but I know it's good - and F.E.A.R.. Left 4 Dead is pretty fun too.

Silent Hill.
My favourite survival-horror game series of all-time, shame Konami kinda ruined it, Downpour was good but it didn't sell good enough so that might be the end of this series, i would be deeply dissapointed if that happend.

Resident Evil/Dead Space.
I love those franchises but i can't really say they are truly survival-horror games, more like action-horror if you asked me, yes even the early RE games (as much as i loved them) wasn't that scary, and Dead Space is really scary don't get me wrong, it just has a different type of scares, jump-scares gets really stale after awhile, the first 4-6 chapters in both Dead Space games are always the most scary for me because it's jump-scares tactics gets kinda stale after awhile, chapter 4 in Dead Space 2 with the Goddamn Stalkers! was really so f*cking scary don't get me wrong, but like i said it gets boring in later chapters, amazing games though.

Note: Left 4 Dead isn't survival-horror, it's a sh*tty zombie shooter, so f*cking boring.

Yes, it is.

It's boring if you're playing alone. If you're playing with a party, it's an awesome game.

I can't see the horror aspect anywhere in L4D. It's more like survival-action.

This

There is some aspects of 'survival' in there, but usually the genre is typified by mechanics that RE had (since it popularized the term).

Limited ammo
Limited health
Not HORDES of enemies, so that each encounter leaves more of a mark
horror (duh)

I mean, L4D has zombies, and I guess it KINDA has an element of surviving in it (but then again, so do all FPS games), but I wouldn't classify it as such. It's certainly not 'horror'

Anyway, RE is dead nowadays. So I picked SH.

ACTUALLY

Deadspace

you HAVE TO scrounge for ammo sometimes, and they DO try to implement horror into that. I can respect DS for that, even if the story is dull and the settings aren't really a marvel or anything.

Dead space 2 had an amazing story actually. The first game is more scary, but the second has the better storyline and is much longer.

I'd like to throw Alan Wake into the ring. I know it's only had one game, two dlc episodes and a XBLA spin-off but it's an excellent game. Certainly leagues ahead of any recent Resident Evil or Silent Hill release (not including Resi 4). Personally I also prefer it to Dead Space.

Zombie mod for CS:GO. Left for Dead/2. A game like Killing Floor also deserves to be nominated.

I haven't really played that many so I can't have a good opinion. All I can say is that I like the Silent Hill and Penumbra series.

Oh yeah... Why aren't Penumbra and Amnesia on the list? Those games are the definition of survival-horror.

I'm voting Silent Hill because it's the only series I've played.

Edit:

Not quite true I have played one of the Resident Evil games on pc but the pc port was sh*t.

I voted for Resident Evil. I think Silent Hill 1, 2 and 3 are excellent but the rest are just terrible. So the series is dead as far as I'm concerned. Resident Evil still has life in it.

Alan Wake is the best current gen survival horror though. Dead Space is also pretty good but I wasn't big on the second one.

Once again, where is No more room in hell, it would be the best. Other games are mostly adventure not survival, and I can't see anything scary about L4D, it's just fun.
