Silent Hill for me. I haven't played it for years but it has a feel like no other game.

Silent Hill. My favourite survival-horror game series of all-time, shame Konami kinda ruined it, Downpour was good but it didn't sell good enough so that might be the end of this series, i would be deeply dissapointed if that happend.
Resident Evil/Dead Space. I love those franchises but i can't really say they are truly survival-horror games, more like action-horror if you asked me, yes even the early RE games (as much as i loved them) wasn't that scary, and Dead Space is really scary don't get me wrong, it just has a different type of scares, jump-scares gets really stale after awhile, the first 4-6 chapters in both Dead Space games are always the most scary for me because it's jump-scares tactics gets kinda stale after awhile, chapter 4 in Dead Space 2 with the Goddamn Stalkers! was really so f*cking scary don't get me wrong, but like i said it gets boring in later chapters, amazing games though.
Note: Left 4 Dead isn't survival-horror, it's a sh*tty zombie shooter, so f*cking boring.

| QUOTE (ccrogers15 @ Monday, Sep 10 2012, 23:01) | L4D is not survival horror. Thats like saying Call of duty zombies is survival horror. | This
There is some aspects of 'survival' in there, but usually the genre is typified by mechanics that RE had (since it popularized the term).
Limited ammo Limited health Not HORDES of enemies, so that each encounter leaves more of a mark horror (duh)
I mean, L4D has zombies, and I guess it KINDA has an element of surviving in it (but then again, so do all FPS games), but I wouldn't classify it as such. It's certainly not 'horror'
Anyway, RE is dead nowadays. So I picked SH.ACTUALLY Deadspace you HAVE TO scrounge for ammo sometimes, and they DO try to implement horror into that. I can respect DS for that, even if the story is dull and the settings aren't really a marvel or anything. This post has been edited by E.A.B. on Tuesday, Sep 11 2012, 05:19

ACTUALLY

The first game is more scary, but the second has the better storyline and is much longer.
