| QUOTE (Official General @ Monday, Sep 10 2012, 10:41) | | QUOTE (jamieleng @ Monday, Sep 10 2012, 16:23) | | QUOTE (Adriaan @ Monday, Sep 10 2012, 16:19) | | QUOTE (Official General @ Monday, Sep 10 2012, 18:10) | @Adriaan Read the OP's statement properly, he's clearly talking about getting shot at or attacked in GTA IV without angering anybody or provoking the situation. That scenario, along with being robbed and carjacked for no reason, never happened in GTA IV or the Episodes. |
Read my entire post and don't just skim over my first sentence in the post you quoted. If you read my entire post you will clearly see that I am certainly aware what he meant. If anyone needs to read properly, it is you.
And actually, there are random moments in GTAIV where you actually do get randomly chased down and attacked in GTAIV. If you read the first page more, you see I talked about the Russian guys that chase you randomly down. |
They do attack you without provocation, if you don't move off their patch in time. |
@ Adriaan
I've read your other comments. That sounds like a 0.1 percent one-off to me, the Russian guys in GTA IV will not just start chasing you to attack you unless you provoke them for 99.99 percent of the time. None of gangs in IV do this.
@ jamieleng
That is not true. I for one have never seen this, and believe me I investigated this hard. Gang members only start threatening you and telling you to get off their territory whenever you hit, push, barge or walk into them. This can be done easily by accident and the player may not even be aware he bumped into a gang member, making it seem like he is being threatened or attacked for no reason. | I guess I have expirenced the Russian's chasing me, but it only happens outside the bar in Hove Beach for the most part. I can see where I may not have been clear, but I'm referring to the blatant "gunshots" from ruthless thugs that try to destroy your car anytime you just pass through their block. Sometimes I don't want to get my car messed up, do I avoided St Marks or Idlewood. In IV, I'll push my Super GT through any area unscaved...... It's safe to say citizens of Liberty can get ignorant, but generally won't without you causing some riff raff. We'll see what happens in Los Santos

| QUOTE (Adriaan @ Sunday, Sep 9 2012, 22:33) |
I guess the reason you didn't see those III and GTA:SA shootings was because there was no real gang element in GTAIV. Let's say there is a similar type of gang system in GTAV, I don't really see it being similar in AI terms. They'd have to really spot you before starting to come at you or shoot at you. In GTA3 it was really crazy, while in GTA:SA it was updated a bit and made more realistic as you know. | III was a bit over the top, SaN Andreas almost nailed it, gang members would only come after you if you went near them, but sometimes it was from really far away. V should be as suggested on sight only.

| QUOTE (Kifflom112 @ Tuesday, Sep 11 2012, 20:19) | | I did feel scared in some neighborhoods of GTA IV. You could be walking in Northwood and then some guy threatens you, or in Little Italy, a guy could get mad at you just for bumping into him. | Like when you walk into a tw@t internet cafe and get threatened by a black guy for being white and "looking lost", even though it's an Internet cafe.....and even though I'm black in real life. It is true that some ppl in IV will get irritated with you just for standing around them, and if you bump into them or simply don't leave, the gloves come off.

That happens all the time. Sometimes I'll start a fight and a nearby hobo will jump in and beat the guy up for me. Although the gangs generally leave you alone some of the regular peds are tough mofos. Moreso than the GTA III era from what I've seen.

I must admit, I've definitely lost more fights to peds in IV than in any other GTA game......especially the ones that have the 1 hitter quitter. It's like 1 sec you have full health, then 1 sec later BLAM, you're knocked out with 1 punch. Wtf?

there's nothing more dangerous than a ped with a knife. once they start cutting you there's nothing you can do. | Combined with IV's super clunky fighting where Niko punches like an old man. @Miami, i agree i sort of prefer the less distinct but still distinguishable gang members, by that i mean that they don't all stand around wearing the same clothes, but usually you can tell that they are gang members.

| QUOTE (esemonster @ Monday, Sep 10 2012, 18:06) | | QUOTE (J-B @ Monday, Sep 10 2012, 17:31) | Well I know that in TBoGT sometimes if you have your gun out in AOD turf they'll tell you to put it away and if you don't they'll turn hostile but I think that was added in to put more of an emphasis on their racism.
The heavily gang controlled areas need to make the player feel more uncomfortable but I don't want to see the player getting shot on sight unless there's an explanation of some kind for the beef.
The gangs need to watch the player as they move through their turf and begin to harass them if they hang around for too long.
If the player draws a weapon their hostility should start to rise faster and be more deadly. |
hell naw in my hood if theirs some random foo in there we would wait for a few minutes rob him and if he pulled out a gun out of nowhere forsure he would get shot cuz we'd think he's gonna shoot us you know but were in south side los angeles and it dont get no worse then us even south central foos dont come to the hood haha | Either you are a low life scum criminal who thinks they are cool by robbing people and tell users on an internet forum. Or a 12 year old who is trying to be an internet gangster. @Topic I made a thread with my other account (which I can't access because of me not being able to remember the password and get to my old email), but yeah, there should be dangerous hoods, but not too dangerous. I don't want to be constantly running through an area because it's 'dangerous' and any gang member will attack you on sight.
