So some "Daddys back..." later: installed up to 1.0.4 set game to lowres textures and set to minimum -memrestrict. Not perfect, but better. Installed 1.0.7 after that. Performance the same, but the patch reseted the setings to highres Textures But running around things were popping up. changed the "memrestrict 650117120" and it was much better with the popups. right now i saw that the "-" was missing! Will try again. So far: Its a loading problem. When nico leaves through the door in the first save house, the game still stutters a little when i look around. After that, i can look as much as i want. So i assume the game is loading stuff into memory. Still sometimes i have 10th of a second stops. But at least its some kind of playable. @jpm1 well some time it looked like it wouldnt run properly on the very lowest levels with 800x600 res. Right know it looks that i can seriously play again. Considering my former box where GTA4 did well and considering the smashing graphics of Battlefield3 i am quite anoyed. This post has been edited by HomerNarr on Sunday, Sep 9 2012, 09:37

Wow, I never saw any OP like you telling your problem in detail. Anyways, your PC looks fine playing the game on Med-Hig. Turn off the Shadows, lower the vehicle density to 20 and turn off the VSync. Also, try my tips. They come very handy. I think you will get 20+ FPS after trying my tips. Do a defragmenting after you re-install the game as the game will take 16 GB of your Memory. Check your background applications. Some unwanted anti-viruses are maybe running. Close them. Also, go to "Start->Run->Type "msconfig"->Go to services and disable "Windows Event Log" and some other unwanted programs." You need to stabilize your PC for running GTA 4 so try to run GTA 4 for a couple of times. Then, it will play smoother. I try this for every application so that I don't get them hanged. Don't give full stress on your PC when running GTA 4. I mean like switching out to Desktop in the middle of game, running useless applications while playing GTA 4 or attaching any Multimedia like Ipod, etc., to the computer. Also, don't ever forget that GTA 4 isn't customized for PC well so you may still find lags after trying all these methods. Don't get angry, live with it like you are going to live with your wife (When you get married). I gave a detail post because you gave one. Hope this helps you.

| QUOTE (PrometheusX @ Sunday, Sep 9 2012, 11:29) | | QUOTE (dansgas1000 @ Sunday, Sep 9 2012, 11:27) | probably the low VRAM. Maybe try a GTX 660 ti, they are even better than a GTX 580 and are very cheap, you could sell that 570 for the same amount of money as buying a GTX 660 ti AND having a performance upgrade at the same time |
Again there is no problem with the hardware, the VRAM isn't low at all. He could max out the game at 40FPS easily. |

OP's divorced, can't you read
Those tips John, are for Low/Medium end PCs. But in his case, typically he should be able to max out the game with a smooth framerate. The problem here is quite different.
HomerNarr, did you update your GPU driver? | Oh God, why? Nice trolling, bro.Yeas, I gave those times for Low End PCs and I know he can max out the game pretty well but there is no harsh in giving them, are there? But, anyways, the game still stutters in High Settings so I would suggest him to go lower his settings as it won't make any difference.
