I've noticed a lot of people on this forum like to hate on nintendo and the Wii in particular, so I was wondering if anybody on this forum liked Legend of Zelda games?

I'm a huge Zelda fan myself, the only reason I own a Wii is for Zelda. LoZ Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword are two of the best games I've ever played, I mostly love them because they are different from other games I like to play, like GTA, but have similiar features that I like, and we can't we can't forget about LoZ Ocarina of Time, which is my favorite game of all time.

So, does anyone else like Zelda? or am I just hallucinating about all the Nintendo hate?

I love Zelda. Used to play it lots on my Gamecube back in 2004. I loved Windwaker and Ocarina of Time. Loved them.

Sadly, when my younger brother got a Wii our Gamecube got stored somewhere. When we sold our Wii in 2011, we sold it along all of our games including Gamecube games. Raged when I found my Gamecube and noticed I had no games to play it with.

Bummer.

I grew up on Pokemon and The Legend Of Zelda, my favorite was always Link's Awakening (despite having to change the Gameboy's batteries every couple weeks), not sure how I was so good at it when I was young, but last year I played it on an emulator and it took me at least six tries to beat the bottle genie. I haven't played a new Zelda game in years though, but my dad enjoyed the Twilight Princess, I think I'm going to buy him Skyward Sword for Christmas.

I too have seen a lot of negativity against Nintendo on here. It's sad to see, since Nintendo deserves a lot of respect.

Zelda and GTA are my favorite video game franchises, btw. Those two are the biggest and best in the video game world for me. I love every game I have played from those two giants, and can't decide which I prefer. I think I have more nostalgia towards Zelda since I played it before I did GTA, and it was sort of my first real video game I ever loved (Ocarina of Time/Wind Waker on Gamecube - which was my first console too).

However, GTA seems to be heading up and up yet Zelda, whilst SS was masterful, seems to be heading further away from the greatness of Ocarina and such. I believe the backlash against Wind Waker made Nintendo buckle at the knees and decide to do fan service instead of continue to innovate.

Let's hope Zelda remains legendary.

Zelda is bad ass.

Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask are still the best.
Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword are tied for a close 2nd.

I'm a big Zelda fan since 1987. Skyward Sword is so much better than Skyrim for example and was easy GOTY. The Legend Of Zelda, Ocarina of Time and Skyward Sword are all great masterpieces.

FRESH NEWS

Wii U zelda coming in 2014, will be biggest Zelda game ever.

-Nintendo is betting big on the next Zelda game, set for release in 2014 on the Wii U.

-Nintendo has assembled the biggest team ever to work on a game at Nintendo EAD 3 in Japan. “They got hundreds of people working on the new Wii U Zelda game”

-It’s a 4-year development cycle with a new console, new technology, new engine etc. It’ll end up being the most expensive game they’ve made to date. It’s a huge investment for them [Nintendo] in money and manpower, this is Rockstar/GTA territory”

-They’re using a new, state of the art engine that’s being built from ground up in parallel with the game. It’s got the most advanced visual features Nintendo has ever made, and includes a lot of third party tech like Havok for physics and rendering middleware from Umbra .

-The new Wii U Zelda will feature “about the same amount of dungeons as previous Zelda games, but these will be vastly bigger in scope and will be totally different from each other. Some dungeons are so big they’re broken up in 3 parts and will literally take hours to complete”. The Wii U Zelda game will also “have mini-games and side quests, but these are still on the drawing board”. Finally, the game’s composers are creating a brand new orchestral soundtrack with “hours of music”.

Huge production value, great technology, massive manpower and focus? Fantastic. Zelda deserves nothing less.

Huge dungeons that take hours to complete? That sounds like it's just big for the sake of being big, not because the dungeon is well done or innovative. It doesn't matter how time consuming the dungeons are, what matters is the design, pace, atmosphere and style of the dungeon.

But nevertheless, I've always wanted Zelda/Nintendo to put a real emphasis on the technology of the game. Ocarina's success was also due to the revolution in its pioneering in video game tech, and pushed the boundaries of the medium, broadening our imagination. I'm not exactly saying it should have state of the art graphics, but Nintendo needs to give Zelda the potential to be as great as a Zelda can be by not limiting it in any - including the technology building it.

I hope they are indeed taking note from Rockstar and how they treat their baby.

Who hates Nintendo? Yes. they are kinda catering for casuals now, but they will change that with Wii-U hopefully..
Anyone that hates Sony/Nintendo more than Microsoft deserves to be punched in the f*cking face, why? because f*ck Micro$oft that's why, bunch of greedy arseholes.

On-Topic: Only played Twilight Princess at my friend's house, amazing game but i never bought it, might do in the future.

I gave my GameCube to my little sister. Now it just sits on her shelf collecting dust. I'm tempted to steal it back so I can't play my Ocarina of Time/Master Quest disc and Wind Waker. I also have my GBA SP somewhere under my bed, with the original Legend of Zelda and A Link to the Past.

I was thinking about playing my Wii version of Twilight Princess the other day. Which in my opinion is better than Ocarina of time. A Link to the Past is my overall favorite, though.

I haven't played Skyward Sword, but I have it next on my queue for GameFly.

Even after all these years, I can still honestly say that Ocarina of Time is my favourite game of all time. The story line, the characters, the graphics (for the time), the fact I always used to play it with my brother, are all reasons that I don't think I'll ever be able to topple this game from its top spot.

Strangely enough, playing Majora's mask on GC, I found I could never really get into it that much, though I know I should!

I seriously doubt that any LoZ game will ever be as good as OoT. That game was amazing. Have great memories playing that as a kid on the old N64. I really wish I still had that. inlove.gif

For me Skyward Sword is just as good as OoT. Twilight Princess however was a little disappointing.

I think the Zelda games are good and sometimes very memorable. I'm not really a hardcore Zelda fan though. I haven't bought any games when they were new or played the games when I was a very young kid. Well except for A Link to the Past on SNES but I haven't played that game for years. The game cartridge has somehow disappeared.

But during recent years I have bought and beat games like: Phantom Hourglass, Twilight Princess and even classic games like Ocarina of Time and Zelda II! Heck, I played Spirit Tracks just some months ago and thought it was just as good as Phantom Hourglass and maybe even better.

Overall I think the Zelda games are challenging, entertaining and the soundtrack is usually awesome too. And for sure I will buy Skyward Sword eventually which has been out for some time now.

I've been playing Skyward Sword, and I think the one downfall of this franchise is the lack of voice acting, and the redundant dialog. They'll say, "Zelda is at the temple." Then say, "The temple is over there." Then say, "Be careful there are monsters in the temple." Then say, "You need to go over there to the temple with monsters to find Zelda." And then, "Are you sure you understand?" And finally, "Okay, then go to the temple with the monsters to find Zelda. Good Luck."

And it's like this with practically every little thing. They can't just cut the fat and say, "Go to the temple and find Zelda." It has to be the translation from Japanese. They say two words in Japanese, and it's like two sentences in English.
