Never watched a single episode of that fag-fest. In fact, the most attention I gave this steaming pile of sh*te was when South Park ripped it to piece's.

I only hope the same happens to that chav-infested garbage called Geordie Shore, so we don't have to endure all the constant tv ads of retarded sluts shrieking through our tv screens.

Also, add anything Simon Cowell-related to that as well.

Chav, nice ain't done heard that in a bit!

QUOTE (Wreckless Jake @ Sunday, Sep 2 2012, 11:32)
We have one called "Geordie Shore", I've only seen adverts for it and it looks absolutely diabolical, people who watch this must be brain dead or something, surely.

there are more, from what I hear a show called "the only way is essex" is a similar thing and sae goes for some show, cannot reember the name it is set inthe chelsea district I think. Truely disturbing what people will willingly watch, the only good thing to come out of Jersey shore, is a good amount of material for comedians and that south park spoof - that's it

@ mikkenugent you won't hear chav much in america, as it stands for council housed and violent, but it is basicly a label given to any unruly youths even if they do not live in council houses, overusage of the word has made it less fashionable to use now, happens with names, now we just call the swagheads or some sh*t like that. I personally always called them twats.

QUOTE (Icarus @ Saturday, Sep 1 2012, 02:49)
If you watched that show for entertainment, there's a good chance you're mentally retarded.

Easy man, easy, what about those of us who realized the show was terrible but found entertainment in its terribleness? I love awful reality television, it's f*cking fascinating. Jersey Shore exposed me to an entire sub culture that I never knew existed, I got to watch these creatures frolic in their natural habitat, guzzling vodka and rarely cleaning themselves. I'll miss the show but it was probably time to end it anyways, it's not as genuine since they're all wealthy stars now (we'll see how long that gravy train lasts)

I've still got a lot of awful reality tv to take their space though, mainly Real World and Bad Girls Club at the moment, the latter being the greatest f*cking reality tv show of all time.

Those are my thoughts, too.

I mean, congratulations to those of you that've established that this show is terrible and you're a normal human being for not watching it. That's very cool of you. But I truly hope that you don't think that the majority of the audience of this show actually like these people. As he stated, it's simply about watching a sub-culture in a confined space showing how idiotic and primitive they are. In essence, it's not that you love it, it's that you love to hate it.

Though, I'm not here to defend it. And I agree, it was time to put this thing down.

I'm glad someone gets it lol and actually the show is not cancelled, the first episode of the final season premiered this past Thursday. It wasn't that great, it seems like they've all evolved a little bit into slightly more responsible and empathetic human beings which is not what I tune in for. Yea I don't admire or idolize these people but I can't lie and say they're not entertaining to watch, in the same way it would entertain me watching monkeys fling sh*t at each other at the zoo. Bad Girls Club (another terrible reality show i follow) is much worse and even more vapid than Jersey Shore though, if the existence of Jersey Shore gets your panties in a bunch then Bad Girls Club would probably induce a full blown seizure.

I can see why people find it entertaining.
no one needs to explain that.

but it doesn't change the fact that if you watch this crap, then you're just as much a part of the problem as they are; the problem being the dumbing-down of society.
if you watch this garbage (thereby supporting the ad revenue that pays to keep them on TV) you're part of the problem.

there's plenty of ways to be entertained in this world.
watching a train wreck shouldn't be one of the acceptable ones.

The dumbing down of society? I think you have too much faith in humanity, we don't need to be dumbed down and eliminating sh*tty shows and sh*tty music from the equation wouldn't magically produce better human beings. People have always been dumb and easily manipulated, it's just convenient to blame mass media for it now since we're constantly being reminded of how awful everything is like it's something new.

Edit: and I'll continue to entertain myself with what I damn well please, as if what I find and don't find amusing actually has any real affect on the status of the American youth, f*ck outta here with that hipster sh*t, go readjust your fedora it might be too tight and could be making you irritable.

how do you know?
we've never tried.

if we stopped glorifying stupidity it might actually do some good.
not overnight of course. but in the long run.

QUOTE
People have always been dumb and easily manipulated

but they haven't always been paid to display their stupidity on television.
this is a new phenomenon that started with the MTV generation.

never before has society put such low people on such high pedestals.
these douchebags would have never gotten this kind of unnecessary exposure and money before the onset of reality TV.

QUOTE

I'm irritable?
lol...

apparently you have no idea what "irritable" means, because the only person acting irritable here is you sigh.gif

In his defense, I understand what he's saying here. You stated yourself that ceasing this glorified stupidity has never been done, thus we can't prove that the connection between commercialized - and "stupid" - media today is a direct cause to what we may say is our dwindling morale in society. We can only agree that there's some correlation. I do agree with the fact that this show appears to develop much much more appeal than what one would logically think it should, but we can't completely decipher it's role in the negative aspects of our culture; it's merely a piece, neither the means or the end.

yes, I never claimed that Jersey Shore itself is SOLELY responsible for all the woes of modern society.

I am only pointing out that it's existence surely doesn't help.
and people who consume it are surely not helping.

but it's all part of a much larger human issue, obviously.

i'll admit i watched the first two seasons. I mainly watched it cause my other friends did but i soon realized how retarded it was. There was maybe ONE character i ever liked on that show and i feel like everywhere i go now near my hometown people are trying to be like the jersey shore people.

For afterprom my school actually went to the area where jersey shore first took place. It was the biggest piece of sh*t town ive ever been to, not even the boardwalk was nice.

Doesn't mean sh*t, they all will either get their own shows or another show just like Jersey Shore will pop up. TV has no shortage of assholes to make a show after.

My sister watches that kind of stuff, which is ironic because she's not your average 22 year old. I caught some of it on a couple of occasions and it is actually quite addictive to watch as much as I am ashamed to say, but luckily I have better things to see on the internet (not that), and I don't watch TV anymore.
