He looks a lot younger in the first one:

Seems lots of people are trying to guess when this is set, many of which seem to think it comes soon after Peace Walker (which I have only just started playing so I don't know the story) or in the late 70's. But judging purely on how Snake looks, surely it's got to be at least the 80's?

My guess: 1987.

Well that's just taken away the only thing that was keeping me interested in this game.
I suppose we can expect another entry into the Is Big Boss Evil Yet? franchise?
Just when is Kojima going to pull the trigger and show this character becoming the kind of monster who 'saves' children only to feed them back onto the battlefield to create more victims?

Without goggles, this Snake looks remarkably similar to the one in MGS3: Snake Eater. Not tomention how freaking cool he looks with the eye patch. Not to cause any rumors, but this might be Big Boss. And that is even more reason to be excited about this game.

No f*cking sh*t, maybe because he is Big Boss. He's going to rescue Paz and Chico from the prison camp in the GZ trailer, and considering that Chico looks about the same age he was in Peace Walker, I highly doubt the Snake we see in the trailer is Solid. Mainly because around the time Ground Zeroes takes place, SS is what, 2-3 years-old? And why in the hell would SS wear an eyepatch?

So maybe Ground Zeroes takes place over the course of many years.

Maybe it does, but I still don't see the point of the article Gtaghost22 posted.

Also, about the gray hair. https://twitter.com/HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN/status/...217008903196672

How people could think that's anyone other than Big Boss I don't know... oh and thank god it is Big Boss icon14.gif by far the best character in the entire series.

Not that really matters how old Big Boss is, I don't care if he's 30 or 60 in MGS GZ.

But rim lighting, really? It's not just the grey hair, he's all wrinkly and just looks old in general.

In the promo picture, he looks like the Snake Eater, Portable Ops and Peace Walker BB. In the picture above, he looks a lot closer to the MGS4 version.

I'm just so glad that it's Big Boss again. I like him better than Solid Snake. He is in my opinion the most tragic figure in MG universe, and the most interesting character.

Download the trailer and save it, Konami is pulling it due to a licensing issue with a song used in the footage...

QUOTE
Konami is asking websites to remove the Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes trailer revealed last weekend at the Penny Arcade Expo due to a licensing issue with a song used in the footage.
At this time it's unclear what song is causing the problem. One possibility is the song "Here's To You" by Ennio Morricone and Joan Baez, though that remains unconfirmed. Konami was unable to say whether or not a new version of the trailer would be released at a later date.
Konami has been contacted for additional comment.

Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes open world will have loading screens and a day and night cycle to offer replayability. Players will see differences throughout the world depending on the time of day, such as changes in enemy troop patterns.

And some high-resolution screenshots grabs from the trailer

Looks like Ground Zero is going to have base-building/weapon developing.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/09/27/met...s-base-building

The fact that you'd be able to do that from your cell phone is astonishing. icon14.gif

Peace Walker is incredible when you consider it's a PSP game. Kojima really knows how to push things forward, the entire MG series is full of technology moments and I expect Ground Zeroes to push that to the extreme. This game is really gonna show what this generation of consoles can pull off icon14.gif god damn I can't wait.

Found this in regards to the eurogamer expo. Turns out there weren't any huge surprises...

QUOTE
Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes will see the base-building and development from PSP outing Peace Walker return - and it'll be a feature that will likely be accessible from smart phones and other devices.

"The concept of developing weapons at your base is a very cool idea, and something that could be popular. It's something we've been thinking of," Hideo Kojima said during a packed developer session at today's Eurogamer Expo.

"Furthermore, nowadays there are various ways to access the game world - you're not just playing in your living room on your games console," Kojima continued. "You may also access through your cell phone and other devices and still access that same game. I think in that respect that motherbase system lends itself very well to that system, and that's something we're planning on for Ground Zeroes."

The base will be accessible in-between the various open world sections that make up Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes. You'll be able to reach the base by the helicopter that featured in the initial reveal of Ground Zeroes, and once there you can explore the base on foot as it develops around you.

Ground Zeroes will also feature a full day/night cycle that leans on the Fox Engine's enhanced lighting abilities - and it'll be something that ties in to the stealth-based gameplay.

The extended demo was once again shown off, with Kojima emphasising that it's running off of a PC that boasts similar specs to an Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
