Here's just some stuff for 2012: Let's say R* starts marketing within the next couple weeks. They would have 2-3 months to have the game release in November/December. The short marketing campaign would save them money, and they'd still have plenty of time to get pre-orders. Not only that, but the marketing doesn't stop when the game ends. Games always market usually at least a month after release. There's also something else that someone pointed out. I forgot who it is, but credit goes out to this guy: If it wasn't gonna release in 2012, why not say so? They could just go out and say "Hey guys, it's not coming out in 2012." That way, 2012 release is done, and they give literally nothing away about the actual release date. No time frame whatsoever, except that it's gonna be at least 2013. Why not do this if there's absolutely no chance for a 2012 release? Oh, and stop with stating your opinion as fact. It's f*cking annoying. Saying there's no chance for a 2012 release is just ignorance, because you, nor anyone else, has no f*cking idea. I don't say 2012 is the release date, I just say it could happen. Just like a 2013 release could happen. Right now, it's 50/50 Edit: Oh, and this thread is useless This post has been edited by Masterfocker on Wednesday, Aug 29 2012, 03:21

With that reasoning, they should've just said coming 2012, it does not give away the release date and keeps us guessing, but they haven't. So regardless of when it's coming out, they aren't obliged to say sh*t.

It would pretty much confirm a November/December release date, since they'd have to market the game. If they said no 2012, then that leaves no timeframe at all. It could be January 1, 2013-December 31, 2020 for all we know

More like optimism and insanity.
Really. I'd love it if it came out in 2012, but looking at what we have now, 2012 has a 0% chance.
Hell, if it comes out this year, I will put a small sauce pan on the stove, turn it to high heat till it gets red hot. I will the break my spine, bend over and bite off my male appendage and then cauterize the wound with my red hot pan. | I'll hold you up to that.

It would narrow it down to Jan, Feb, March or April. Let's be realistic now, 2020? Even 2014 is an over exaggeration. So really. Why would they tell us if it is or isn't releasing 2012.

Every GTA has been released in October, or has been schedules to release in October, but has been delayed. Of course, the game is obviously not coming out in October, unless R* is as unpredictable as I think they are. Still doesn't rule out a 2012 release.

The Truth. #FACT | Oh god they've come to GTAF, what next!? Will they start an ACTUAL relgion next? Also, they DO know a release date I agree, but if they released I think they hype might decrease, not greatly but noticably... At least that's what I think. Fans would be going crazy over the release date paying no attention to marketing visuals as much, trailers would still be popular but not so much screenshots. I think people wouldn't of gone so crazy over the new screenshots if we had a release date and more info. If it is actually released in 2012 or even 2013 with little information players would go crazy once it was released given they would still be excited they'd be even more amazed. Also that would help R*'s sales if you think about it.

That little fact right there alone gives 2012 a big reason to happen. Also because it's a holiday season, and we all know games sell a lot better at that time

Finn4life makes perfect sense there. I mean, c'mon, only predicting 650mil for GTA V? GTA IV made $1B in its first 3 months, you could expect GTA V to almost double that figure.

The part where it doesn't mention they'll do a short market campaign | Read this: http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/1349..._it.php?print=1| QUOTE ( Dan Houser) | | Obviously, it's a balancing act to sell the game... We used to have an exact formula for how much information you give out and how much you wouldn't. Literally, it was sort of a pie chart. It's hard to be that controlling, but you certainly want features that people are discovering. Some amount they learn about in advance, and some amount in reviews, but hopefully you can keep [other aspects] quiet until [people] are actually playing the game, because you want it to have the surprises and you want it to be magic. |
No company will never announce how they are doing something. But it's seriously not that hard to connect these dots.
