What do you think happened to the main characters of each game after it ended? What do you think there life is like today?
GTA 3: Claude took the place of Asuka in the yakuzas and married Maria. They then moved to Vice City, But still never forgot there friends back in LC, Yakuzas and 8ball.

GTA VC: tommy and mercedes got married and tommy is the leader of all gangs in vice and the most respected person in Vice.

GTA SA: Carl is the head leader of Grove St Families still, and married one of his girlfriends. (Probably denise). Kendl and Ceaser married and live on Grove st, sweat still lives on grove, madd dogg lives in his mansion, og loc lives in a trash can. Up until 2001, carl still got calls from Catalina teasing him as well.

GTA LCS: After Sal died in 3 Toni became the leader of the Leoni Family despite Joey being the son, because he was the most respected due to his actions in LCS.

GTA VCS:

GTA IV: Niko eventually moves on after what happened. Roman and Mal get married and have there kid. Packie moves to Sanandreas, Brucie dies of steroid overdose , Dwaine is the leader of a new gang in LC and still close friends to niko, Kiki became the president to help poor people, Carmen finally became famous, Alex finally got her dad to buy her the entire island of Algonquin LC, Michelle becomes the chief of police and makes sure her cops wont hurt niko, because she still loves him. Little Jacob goes back to Jamaca and runs a successful drug business, Elizabeta is still in jail .

Anyways:

-GTA 3: Claude lives happily ever after.
-VC: Tommy rules VC with Mercedes, and all of his "friends" (Umberto, Mitch Baker etc.)
-SA: CJ is always working for his gang, and at the casino with Woozie
-IV: Niko is living his life with Roman, Mallorie and (probably) their girl, Katie.

I think...

GTA III: Claude became the richest person in Liberty and also the mostly hired murderer in Liberty..He owns a big house and had a good long relationship with Maria but didn't marry. He still associates his friends 8-Ball and Ray.

GTA Vice City: Tommy becomes the most richest guy in Vice City and runs the whole town.

GTA San Andreas: Carl becomes the most richest man in the whole state of San Andreas. He earns a lot by his properties and marries Michelle.

GTA Liberty City Stories: Toni went to LC Hospital and had his limp fixed.

GTA VCS: He donated his testicles.

I also thought about the same thing so I decided to make a great Total conversion (GTA 2012) for that. Hope you will like it as it will show you the after events of the protagonists from most of the GTA series.

Here are some unusually sad endings.
BAD ENDING: Claude was hunted down by the Leone Family Mafia after Maria told the mafia where he was, ater he threatened to shoot her at the credits. GOOD ENDING: Maria and Claude got married and Claude became best friends with 8-Ball, and they started owning all their rival gangs with Claude's badassness and 8-Ball's bombs, along with Maria's sense of fashion .

BAD ENDING: Tommy and Mercedes became drug addicts and then died of an overdose. After 1992 after losing Tommy, Ken commited suicide. GOOD ENDING: Tommy and Mercedes got married and ran the city, along with Ken who kept getting in some trouble. Ater running Vice City, Phil came along and they would have endless weeks of parties and fun.

BAD ENDING: CJ and Woozie owned the casino, but then a random shootout in the casino cost Woozie. CJ escaped but died of fatal bullet wounds two weeks later. GOOD ENDING: CJ, Sweet, Kendl, Woozie, Zero, Madd Dogg started to take over the whole state, and CJ became the leader of a drug empire, and the cops didn't give a damn.

BAD ENDING: In November 2002 Toni tried to hunt down Claude along with the mafia after becoming the new don. After killing Claude, Ray Machowski's plane from "Miami" crashed into Toni's mansion. GOOD ENDING: Ater Salvatore's death, Toni became the new don, wiped out the Triads, the Diablos and ruled Portland.

BAD ENDING: Niko was heartbroken after Roman died so he started being depressed. Brucie died of steroid overdose, Little Jacob got killed in a shootout with a rival gang, Packie flew to San Andreas and Dwayne was inluenced by Niko's depression. GOOD ENDING: Niko and Packie wiped out the Commision out of Liberty City and along with Dwayne and Little Jacob, combined their gangs and ruled most of Liberty City. Brucie also stole cars for their gang to use from his Executive Autos.

GTA III: Claude flees LC, goes to Vice City and works as a contract killer for aging crime lord Tommy Vercetti. However, Tommy strikes a deal with the Leone family and has Claude assassinated.

GTA VC: Tommy becomes most powerful crime boss in Vice City. He marries Mercedes and has a son and a daughter with her. The son eventually inherits his empire.

GTA SA: CJ runs his assets for several months until he's tracked down by Salvatore and killed. GSF then enter a war with the Leones, but let's face it, they don't stand a chance and Salvatore takes control of their businesses. He wars with the Triads however, and loses them, forcing him to move back to Liberty.

GTA LCS: After the death of Salvatore, Toni becomes the new boss of Leone family, having defeated and killed Luigi Goterelli and his crew in a war for leadership. Toni also murders Joey Leone because he is Sal's son.

GTA VCS: GTA VC.

GTA IV:

Deal: Niko and Mallorie mourn Roman, but they get together and move to Vice City. Niko also fathers a son he names Roman.

Revenge: Niko, Roman and Mallorie move to Vice City where Niko marries and fathers a son he names Marko.

I made some other scenarios where they're all involved

III: Claude, Maria, and 8-Ball rent a cruise ship and relax for a good six months but Claude gets assassinated on the ship, and Maria and 8-Ball set out for revenge.
VC: Tommy rules Vice City with Ken and Mercedes, along with Phil. Tommy's gang get in a gang war with the Leones, but they set out a truce if the Vercettis kill a guy that killed their former don. But two weeks later, Tommy and his gang face off in a major gang war with a chick and a black guy.
SA: CJ is now on top and goes on dogfights. CJ crashes and lives but the Leones came back and try to kill the Grove Street Families. The SF triads and Grove Street kick the Leone family's ass and force them into Vice City.
Advance: Mike flew away from LC and lived somewhere nearby. He came back to Liberty City five months later and bribed the Triads to force the Leones out of LC and to Los Santos. He then lives in peace in a suburban home in Shoreside Vale.
LCS: Toni becomes the don and takes over Portland. But the Triads wipe them out to Los Santos. They get forced to Vice City after that where they set out a bounty on Claude in a truce with the Vercettis.

Actually i thought of something, although 8ball and claude saved each other from the bridge and 8ball got him a job, remember 8ball is friends with the leone family so its highly possible 8ball is now pissed at claude. Remember the bomb in the cheeta you where supposed to get for sal but maria told you its a trap? Its highly likely the bomb came from you know who.

Claude: he's arrested during another crime spree and dies in prison.

Tommy: he passes away while running Vice City like Tony Soprano.

CJ: he leads a life filled with splendor, thanks to all the opportunities he had.

Toni: he's killed as a result of gang warfare and the collapse of the Leone mob in Portland.

Niko: he leads a very short life after the events of IV, either as a vagabond or defending his family and property in Liberty. His son, with Kate, goes on to make a legitimate name for himself.

Johnny: he escapes from Liberty and goes on the road as a biker.

Luis: he retires early after years of success as a bodyguard.

Claude: After spending a stretch in prison he breaks his silence and turns out to be gay. He becomes Big Bubba's sex toy and after a night of uhhhhh "playing" he dies from severe anal bleeding. He'll be missed.

Tommy: Retires in 1994, but in the successing years becomes obese due to eating way too much Burger Shot and becomes stuck in an elevator door letting off some gas and dying from asphyxiation.

CJ: Salvatore makes good on his promise and sends a hitman to kill him. Unfortunately the hitman shoots CJ in the balls instead of killing him leaving CJ impotent for the rest of his life.

Niko: Commits suicide from all the "You want to go bowling cousin?" calls. He regresses all his feelings until letting them go in an angry rage and jumps off the Rotterdam Tower to his death.

Toni: Toni unlike the others doesn't die. However because of his weight in 2001 by 2012 he has since lost over 100 pounds and become an olympic runner.

Vic: Speaks for itself.

Johnny: Rides out West in LS in his newly formed MC called the "Devil's Advocates".

Luis: One night he was blind drunk and didn't realize he picked up a transexual. That transsexual just so happened to be an ex-wrestler and snapped Luis' neck in two for being a cheap bastard.

GTA III: Claude moves on to bigger and better things, exploring the world. Maybe he meets Yusuf Amir after he hits the jackpot and collaborates with him. Engaged to Maria and is noted for his credibility towards the Yakuza's.

GTA Vice City: Tommy Vercetti moves into the real estate business and media after purchasing assets to the Global Interfilms (or whatever) on Prawn Island, hires a few hitmen to perform frequent hits on the Forrelli's for setting him up, gets engaged to Mercedes and inherits the Colonel's yacht.

GTA San Andreas: Sweet steps down as the Grove Street Families' leader, putting Carl in his position with the Seville Boulevard families finally making an official agreement with them again. The Idlewood Ballas begin to fall following the death of Kane, and Carl controls most of Los Santos, San Fierro and Las Venturas (excluding counties; Dillimore, Bayside, Blueberry) and controls all shipments of drugs, weapons etc. Madd Dogg hits it big and sends half the cash towards the GSF.

GTA Liberty City Stories: Toni's ma takes "all seeing eye" control over the Leone Family after Salvatore's death in GTA 3, with Toni becoming the second in charge despite Joey Leone being the second to the seat. Leone's take control over all the Forrelli's and Sindacco's territories in Liberty City, as well as the Triads.

GTA Vice City Stories: Well I think that's self explanatory after purchasing all assets, buildings and completing the storyline.

GTA IV: Niko moves out of Liberty City and heads for Los Santos, with his wife (Kiki/Carmen/Alex). Roman takes over all the cab companies in Liberty City and buys out a ton of bowling alleys for Niko, to which he kills himself from it.

GTA V: ??? f*cks bitches and gets money.

I would say that Claude was hunted down and killed by either the Leone Family or the Columbian Cartel
Tommy was killed by a new up and coming gang or is now serving multiple life sentences in a prison where he will eventually die.
CJ became a sucessful entrepreneur but then the IRS did an investigation into his finances and seized all of his assets. He's currently back living in squalor on Grove Street with Denise.
Toni is the current boss of the Leone Family but is likely serving life in prison for racketeering
Vic Vance we know from Vice City is dead.

As for the GTA IV era protagonists I think their future is pretty open and perhaps one or two of them will make some sort of appearence in GTA V
