Fixed that for you. Seriously though, in what universe did Uncharted 2 have a better story than RDR,ICO,GTA IV and MGS4 ?

The actually plot isn't the best i know (unoriginal) but it's just unexplainable...

When i played Uncharted 2 for the first time, i just.. couldn't stop playing because of how well i got connected to the characters and the story.
i kinda agree with your "fixed" list though, Red Dead Redemption's story is so freaking good, but Silen Hill in 5th place? Just No..

Max Payne series. I like MP2 the best though, despite the fact that having to literally run around a police station takes you out of it.

Mass Effect series. The characters, and relationships between them are the best. Over three games, the relationships develop, and at the end you mourn for the characters you lose.

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. It had a couple excellent suspenseful moment, and a couple real good twists. Killing Doug Shetland was bitter sweet, and not killing Admiral Otomo was just sweet.

Spyro 3
Spyro 2
Spyro 1

Why Spyro?

Not only are all the stories exactly the same from Spyro 1-3 (someone stole <...> collect them all) it's also not a very original story.

GTA IV's story didn't inspire me much. I mean its a computer game. I watch a lot of films and it tried too hard to be taken seriously but as far as games go, stories and films that inspire, it wasn't anything special. I did enjoy it but it wasn't anything really new or made me go "wow." Like The Wire. The Wire is dark, gritty and the writing is probably the best a TV series has ever seen but I know it wouldn't translate to a computer game very well. I almost feel this is the case with IV. However IV, still knocks most games' stories out of the water.

San Andreas' story or even Vice City's was more inspiring for me or at least fun. San Andreas had the action and the larger than life story. San Andreas' story is one I'd prefer to play in a videogame but wouldn't care much to see it as a film in the cinema. GTA IV's story is more a story I'd rather watch as some sort of TV film drama but not play as a game, if that makes sense to people.

Metro 2033 has a great story.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
GTAs: All.
The Warriors
Max Payne series.
Red Dead Redemption
Fallout 3

Just a few that come to mind.

GTA San Andreas story was over the top,but it was actually quite an adventure, through three cities and countryside , dealings with, gangs, triads, mafia, police and goverment agents and finding all kind of interesting things everywhere.
IV also got good story, while we were discovering America through Niko's eyes.
Assassin's creed series,especially 2.
Mass Effect trilogy,especially first one.
MGS saga, with MGS 4 as the best one.
RDR.
COD4 (later series go downhill).
Resistance 1.
Killzone 1.
Godfather 1,but only becouse that was story of one of the best movies ever.
Fahrenheit/Indigo prophecy.
Heavy Rain.
Yakuza series.
Deus Ex 1 and Deus Ex HR.
Saboteur.
Final Fantasy 13.
LA Noire.
Max Payne.
Syphon Filter series.
Infamous 1 and 2.

You know, I've never played Silent Hill 2... I seem to have skipped that one for some reason, even though I have it. You guys have inspired me to play it... after all these years. I am in need of a good psychological thriller game. icon14.gif

My favorite video game storyline so far? I am going to have to say Red Dead Redemption. I just love everything about it. It all ties together so well... plus the message it brings is epic:

Karma will bite you in the ass one day.

I can't believe how many people are listing Metal Gear Solid games on here. This is my impression of a Metal Gear game:

I betrayed you!
No, I betrayed you!
No, I'm really _____!
I knew that all along! And I still betrayed you!
No! My arm is betraying me!
Ocelot!
Liquid!
PATRIOTS!!

On topic, Red Dead Redemption. I've never felt more connected with a character than with John Marston and his family.

For me, the most memorable story was in Mafia: The City Of Lost Heaven.
When I played this game, the story really grabbed me in. It started slow and easy, and, by the end, the game got explosive.

After the original Mafia, I loved the storylines of GTA San Andreas and GTAIII too.
