Hey guys,

I realise a lot of you sometimes check here, and no other sections.
I want to share an idea with you all, it's something that has come about through discussion with CrimsonFlam3s. So I'd like to hear your thoughts, and whether you would help or be interested in being involved in it.

I'll call it CnC:Witness Protection - Don't confuse it for The Lost and Damned game though, this is strictly on IV.

How it works

The game is set to, All for One. Friendly Fire is ON. The cops must go to the boss at the beginning of the game, and collect him, the boss must have car of his own, because unfortunately I don't think it's easy to have a cop & boss in the same car, one will kick the other out (we need to test it). Meanwhile the crooks must collect weapons, and prepare for the game.

The cops should then with the boss head to a START location e.g. Airport / Lawyers Office/ Bohan Stripclub / Prison.

The cops objective is to protect the boss (let's pretend he's the President), but they must do it by turning OFF their RADAR, in the display settings (We need to trust the cop players to do this, but it will be obvious if they don't).

The cops must escort the boss to a specific END location in any island, the location is decided after 5-10 minutes of play (needs to be discussed), no team will know before the match begins (meaning camping is impossible). Locations will be boat spawns, and before anything is decided, I will design a map, for possible 'extraction points' to be used in this event.

The crooks win by killing the President (Boss)
The cops win by getting the President to the extraction point (Boss reaches a boat). (A reversal of normal CnC)

RULES:

Boss must have his RADAR on.
Crooks must have their RADAR on.
Cops must have their RADAR off.

Crooks must not follow the boss/cops to the start location.
Crooks or Cops, do not start the game, til everyone and everything is in place.

Helicopters can be used by both sides, but bosses cannot enter them.
Helicopter blading is not allowed. Helicopter vs Helicopter attacks is also not allowed (can have shooting passengers though)

Weapons will be on ALL , (if RPG's become overused, it will be set to STANDARD)

Voice chat will be Proximity, the President (Boss) should help cops protect him by sharing information of the location of crooks and by killing crooks himself, if he has to. (Presidents cannot act like Rambo though) biggrin.gif lol.gif
Cops can take bosses to safe houses (building and interiors you can enter) the President (boss) must do as the cops tell him (e.g. " Go in the building Mr President, too many terrorists " (crooks) !!

It will be interesting to say the least, the cops playing without radar, so they will have to keep the boss nearby, because they can't actually see his location either without the radar (without of course they use the map, which would be cheating kind of ). The crooks they will see the boss, but won't know where the cops are protecting him from, cops won't know if the crooks have set up road blocks / placed snipers / RPG's.

It be cool if an extra crook acted, as the driver/chauffeur to the President (boss) driving the Cognoscenti car, escorted by cops either side.

I think numbers wise, it would work best with as many players as possible, perhaps more cops (bodyguards) than crooks (Terrorists), say 9 cops + 1 boss vs 6 crooks....

Cops are limited to 3 weapons too, SMG : SHOTGUN : SNIPER. Crooks can use all.

How would teams play? Maybe to protect the boss, the cops would set up a perimeter around a building, the president inside is then protected until the location is revealed....then they make a run for it....or perhaps the cops would be better to travel as a convoy around Liberty City, with helicopter support...

I dont get why boss would have to go to cops? Just to complicate the game? You can do the same with boss and crooks in the same team against cops. Anyway I would simply play CnC or WP than this. Also there is no need to use CnC mode for this, TDM would be much better - cops in 1 team, crooks in 2 and boss alone in team 3 than you can set up blips like you want and time duration so for example cops win if they protect boss for 10 mins and crooks win if they kill him in 10 mins

Why boss with the cops?

Because it's a twist on a mode, it's to try something different with a mode I like. Also with the idea of it being a 'witness' or somebody who has to be escorted to an extraction, it makes more sense for 'cops' to act as protectors. They also 'look' the part too, and the boss, could pass for a President or some other VIP biggrin.gif

Doing something similar in a TDM is an interesting idea, but it wouldn't work.
The point is, Crooks (Terrorists) can see the Boss (President) he always appears on their radar, in TDM you can't pick and chose which teams see which blips. For example like you said... 3 teams, ('1 cops', '1 crooks', '1 boss'), Blips None, could only work with prearranged locations, but it's not a game of hide and seek.

My biggest gripe with Witness Protection on TLaD was the blips, SWAT could see Bikers, there were never any surprises, and kills againt eachother were never rewarded any $. It's still a really great mode, but it wasn't quite cops and crooks.

Anyways I appreciate your thoughts SARDYNA, last time I checked you didn't play on ps3, so even if you don't like this idea of mine, you couldn't take part anyways.

I think its good that you dont get money for kills in WP becouse than there would be ridiculus situations like "dont kill boss yet, we need money" in CnC, such things really ruin CnC becouse sometimes crook has to die to protect boss and the other team shouldnt get money for this. Boss escapes - crooks win, doesnt matter how much money cops earned on killing crooks - thats how it should be and thats how it is in WP. Im not sure about blips but it would be good if you could set up blips like you want, I think with all blips there is more action and less camping (when I want camp I go to CnC) but if someone likes it he should be able to set up blips to team

Thanks Crimson, it was your idea to do the cops without radars, I simply thought how about the cops have got to protect the boss, and the only way to complete the game, is for the crooks to kill him, add a little story and some imagination, and you've got a nice game. Cops N Crooks is the perfect mode in my opinion, but it will be fun to try this.

If cops successfully get boss to the extraction point, the round ends with the boss killing himself (but he must be out at sea or atleast 15 seconds in the boat, he can't just jump in the boat, and say done it immediately, bang..., crooks will be given the chance to use sniper fire to kill the boss.

From now on when talking about this version of CnC.

The Boss - The President
The Crooks - Terrorists
The Cops - BodyGuards

Weapon Rules

President - Must have atleast one grenade for suicide purposes, can only use pistol, but must have body armour from beginning.
Terrorists - Any weapon allowed, however must not use helicopter for blading
Bodyguards - Allowed SMG, Shotgun and Snipers, no other weapons.

Don’t want to go off topic but I would really like to know what happens (in any cnc game) if the boss is in a car and a cop tries to get in. ie Does it kick the boss out or can they ride together? Anyone tested it?

Funny Story one time as boss I was on the back seat of a bike, team mate got off, on jumped a ped and drove off with me. smile.gif

You were right, no matter what we tried, boss didn't want to be 'arrested' lol.

I hope he might of stayed, but it didn't work once.

This idea could still happen, but it would mean either the president drives himself...or an additional crook joins, as a driver / personal bodyguard who would also have his radar on too, unlike the other bodyguards (cops).

The kidnap glitch might be a possibility too.

Any others interested in giving this a try, or should I give up hope of trying to get a full game of CnC players, on the same page, and willing to try this?

P.S. Any CnC players, note the name of this sucker: Ghost-Recall (Glitcher).

not to go off topic but I had mentioned a mode to you AJ similar to this but in TMW and using a pickup item like laptop, head in river etc

after testing the idea out, it dosnt work. after a certain time limit the item dissapears and petrovic gives u new mission.

back to topic;

I'm all for this but I say we take it one step further and implement a scenario and designate positions like the secret service.

for example, I say the president holds up inside the Majestic and the bodyguards take up different positions they would appreciate.

like you could have two downstairs as the street level guards, then have some snipers posted up on the roof and have some guys who'd be the presidents literal watchmen up there with him inside.

I also say give the president a helicopter and we could destroy the propane tanks on the Majestic balcony beforehand so that the terrorists can have a landing spot as well.

I think id be best to have a rule to not destroy the presidents helicopter unless he himself is in it.

this scenario can be run at the Sprunk factory, the drug deal building in dukes, projects uptown in algonquin etc.

also I think id be neat to have the president hide inside the china shop in dukes and have all the bodyguards out front.

regardless if you agree I'm in!

last but not last what is the kidnap glitch?? I'm sure I know and forgot.....

I can't remember how you do it, I think you need to have car next to a wall, then one player sits in the other players seat, preventing that player from being able to exit the car, I'm sure there is probably a youtube video on it.

I'm glad you'd like to help.
ETHEREAL about TMW, myself and Madmonk, tried a twist on it, think CnC crossed with TMW, We played cops, and all we did was try to prevent, any tasks being completed in the time limit. Example, take the creepy guy out of the area, we escorted him to a building, and then guarded (like a safehouse) meanwhile the opponents, took turns trying to get to him, even tried sniping whilst we were on the roof top lol. We did the same with items too, and noticed if they are in your possession they last longer, we did the same with a vehicle (destroy the bike) we parked it inside a building, and protected.
The objective is to prevent the other team completing as little as possible (you don't complete tasks yourself, unless they are red)

Next round (next game), the roles switch, the opposite team tries to do the same, in the end the winner is whoever makes most money as mafia 'roles'.

It's fun being the cops, but very difficult being the mafia.

Anyways , back on topic, I like your idea, for a stand off in the Majestic Hotel, what about the Museum too? (Too bad only one entrance/exit).

I definitely think there is potential for the cops to play as protectors of the boss, without radar (in the settings turned off).
Would be cool and challenging to try the same in actual Witness Protection (except bus driver of course lol). Microphones a must !

it sounds like a good idea mate but ur forgetting 1 critical factor, many people are IDIOTS tounge.gif including a couple of my best gta friends (no names mentioned). i mean its like they don't think. wen i teamkill a noob cos he joins on my team he'll still join the next round and the next 1. wen in a team with high ranked players and 2 or more noobs , 4 players will kik 1 of them but 1 dumbass will kik the other 1 confused.gif how does that help?? wen there's a gv destroyer in the game and im boss i tell a crook to go get gv, he'll stop 5 times along the way to pick up weapons and armour (-_-) and the gv will get destroyed cos he'll lose the race. wen im trying to show some1 a glitch or something cool in the game they can't even follow simple instructions.

sorry if im rambling on, i just woke up im pretty dizzy but the point is that many people are idiots and can't even follow simple instructions, they don't have a hope with this complicated idea. there's always gonna be 1 idiot who messes something up, it'll take weeks just to get 1 successful game.
perhaps ull be able to find enough players of a high enough intellectual capacity then maybe it'll work, but its not gonna be easy

Well for a start it could never happen with random players, or idiots.

So far the list includes around 6 players, each of whom are sensible guys, with headsets and knowledge of the game, however everyone plays a different time! That's the main challenge, getting everyone online together and giving this a serious try.

One interesting twist I thought could occur in these games, are the respawning crooks, for example where will they respawn? Most likely near the boss again!

My main interest in doing this, was to test what it would be like, if cops couldn't see crooks, like crooks can't see cops. The Radar being off, makes it a challenge, and very different!

Secondly I don't think this will ever happen, but it was worth discussing it here, I thought of another idea for it too. But with predetermined routes, that both sides would know of. Like the tunnel of death route! or highway to hell route! LOL
