The loss of Tony Scott is surprising and sad. Of his films, my favorite is Crimson Tide (1995). I also love brother Ridley Scott's best films and this is the second brother he's lost.

Yesterday, Tony Scott jumped off the Vincent Thomas Bridge, which is replicated in GTA V's Los Santos.

With GTA V screenshots out today, I wondered if Rockstar had planned to show the bridge but had to adjust. Are they thinking about keeping the bridge out of screenshots now? This sort of problem never happens to companies that make games that don't look anything like real life.

EDIT: the question is about sensitivity in what marketing to show right now, NOT changing the game. Tony Scott is mentioned on the front page of today's L.A. Times.

I'm sorry but this is ridiculous. One person jumped off it, one. So no it shouldn't effect them at all.

Truly sad about Tony Scott but then the argument can be made for everything. Should we take guns out because they kill people? How about cars? Accidents happen in vehicles all the time so should they be removed?

Sad that the man died but just because he is famous is no reason to exclude something from a videogame.

I don't see how it would be disrespectful, it's a well known monument. RIP Tony Scott anyway, he made one of my favourite movies.

He wasn't the first to jump off it and he won't be the last. Nothing to do with Rockstar.

Here's what a lot of people will say: who?

QFT. Never heard of him before (at least didn't remember his name) and after looking at the list of movies he made, some of which were so crappy I never watched them until the end, IMHO it's no surprise he commited suicide.

He had a brother who was in the same business as he was that overshadowed him dramatically in artistic vision and fame so he probably felt he wasted his life trying to become as good and/or famous as him. He failed, so he killed himself. Happens every day, who cares (well, his family probably).

Besides, most people who play GTA have no idea what a certain bridge in a certain fictional city is supposed to look like, much less who committed suicide off its real life counterpart.

As someone else said, if you're going to take out all things in GTA that are related to death in the end you'll be looking at a blank screen.

...who knows, maybe in V we'll have a random encounter with a Vinewood producer who, the last time we meet him, jumps off said bridge tounge.gif

Btw for those who have no idea who this guy is/was, some of his movies:

The truth of the matter is Tony Scott was in at the the very least disturb frame of mind and jumped off the bridge. To shy away from it wouldn't do anything to rockstar. The bridge is a icon, and no doubt made it into the game, it would be a shame to miss out on it due to a self inflicted death. I feel for his family but 90% of people don't know him and only know his name in association to films. I don't see the point in limiting a production due to the death of a single man just because it happen in recent news

Who?

A movie director, the younger brother of Ridley Scott (Alien, Prometheus, Black Hawk Down, Gladiator)

But really, this poll is stupid. Why would this be Rockstar's problem? OP, you should feel bad.

I appreciate the honesty in this post, insincere Internet sympathy is the worst.

It's not as bad as posturing cynics desperate to prove how little of a sh*t they give about everything, while offering the most superficial instances of armchair psychology imaginable. For example.

Unless the next screenshots are part of a series called "Bridges", I don't think R* need avoid the Vincent Thomas Bridge in the future. What's sad about the thing is not the location, but the event.

If you don't know Tony Scott's work, I'd recommend Beverly Hills Cop II, Crimson Tide, or Man on Fire.
