Hi. I use Windows 8 64-bit which was upgraded from Windows 7 64-bit which runs on the iMac i7. The DVD drive which Apple calles Superdrive is a Sony AD-5680H. My GTA IV DVD disk are original and are in good condition but when I stick it in the drive, it would try to read it but it'll eject it (it's the same for an original Spellforce 2: Shadow Wars DVD). I used to be able to install it on Windows 7 64-bit but it may be the DVD driver.

Assuming Grand Theft uses securerom, I've uninstalled virtual drive like MagicISO (thoroughly uninstalled) and UltraISO but to no avail. I'm not sure if I have SecureROM installed (it doesn't show in the uninstaller).

I've tested if the Superdrive is faulty but it did burn a Linux .iso onto a CD-RW and it mounted properly with the Linux's name on the desktop. I've burned it on OS X Mountain Lion (using Toast, Disk Utility and Carbon Copy Cloner) as well as on Windows using Nero Burning ROM (latest). I noticed that it burned DVDs properly (you can test on a real PC) but when it's on OS X, it would say Untitled DVD (but CD are ok, they have the proper name).

I'm not sure if it's drive itself or Windows 8? What could be causing ejecting this original games?

Thank you in advance.

Gby.

It's probable the game disk in not readable. Do you have any other machines you can try reading the disk in?

Hi. Yeah on PC I tried the GTA DVD, it's fine. I can install it. Is it Windows 8 or the drives faulty (but I just burned successfully on a DVD+RW .iso 1.7GB image).

I can't really wrap my head around that "ejects while trying to read". Failed read is a failed read, don't understand why the disk would be ejected? But, that doesn't actually help you biggrin.gif
