I've been playing GTA IV (TBOGT) online (online for 2 to 3 days) and I love it. Since I started playing IV I kept everything at default... including auto-aim but I have two questions...

1. Do players dislike people who keep auto-aim turned on?
2. How can I tell if someone else has it turned on?

I've been doing pretty well and I usually get second or third place (note: I am playing on a Xbox 360)

Hey buddy, remember me?
Your good old friend, I think we can get along just fine, right?
jerk.

"@ylm1024"

To answer your questions.

1. Do players dislike people who keep auto-aim turned on?

Some players get annoyed by it because it takes no skill, all you have to do is press a button and press another button, Boom. your target's dead.
Some players don't care, they'd just join a server and randomly start shooting out.
No Auto Aim is the professional way of playing - more skilled players play in these lobbies.
Auto Aim On is the basic way of playing. - random players who don't care play in these lobbies.
note that the Auto Aim Off Players do get pissed off enough to message you and brag about their "Skillz".
It's up to you, honestly. For me, I don't care, now-a-days, there is no competition in GTAIV anymore.

2. How can I tell if someone else has turned it on?

First off, I kind of answered half your question already.
But I don't even know wtf you're talking about.

No, you can't see if they have it on or off.
Keep it on in a Auto Aim On Lobby.
No one would give a crap if you have it toggled off and you say "Urrr, dat guise haz no skills"

This just proves how much of an idiot you are. AA requires no skill?
I've been strictly AA for over four years now, and I have a 30 to 1 kill ratio for deathmatch.
It's not a "basic way of playing", it's an alternate style of play which requires alternate tactics.
I've met quite a few disallow players who told me they can't play for sh*t with AA on.
I'm tired of n00bs like you saying that AA requires no skill. That "sniper guide" of yours was seriously flawed, which shows that you really don't know what you're talking about. bored.gif

Compared to AA, DA requires more skill. Nobody said AA didn't require any skill, which it does but not so much on the shooting part, but on the tactics to get the lock on first, etc etc.

Tell me how can a DA player not play with AA on??? monocle.gif It's the same sh*t as manual aim but easier since the game aims for you.DA requires more skill, not saying AA doesn't but not nearly as much.

I used to be AA only but then started playing lots of DA matches and now I'm able to compete with people who were generally better than me at using their AA 2 shoot kill. Why? because you can't just lock on and kill someone so fast they can't do sh*t to you. You have to actually approach them really carefully and make sure your aim is good enough to kill them quickly before they do something. This is against good people though, most inexperienced players can be picked of easily.

If you think that AA requires the same level of skill as DA then you are seriously wrong. There is no easy sneaky 2 shoot kills, kill people who are using cars easily, etc etc.

Tell me what was flawed about the sniper guide? I tried some stuff and it helped me a lot with calculating when to shoot, targets moving diagonally etc etc.

He said the actual aiming is the one that doesn't require much skill, not the whole thing. U mad bro? sly.gif

Looks like someone's been butt-hurt over the past few months.
First and mostly, I never said "Auto Aim requires no Skill"
I said someone people say that.

Second, I don't care about your Awesome Ratio, Don't care about how many years you've been playing for.

I play with both Auto-Aim off and Auto Aim on.
And honestly, I can tell you that I end up becoming the biggest asshole in a lobby with auto-aim on.
You know why?
Because, all you do is get close enough to a target, wait for auto aim to set on them, then you move your analogue stick up so it aims to their Head and you Shoot, thats the only "Skill" there is to it.
Correct or No?

And again, I don't care if you're butt-hurt over my Sniping Guide.
Give me some reason for it being flawed, oh master Rank 10, So I can become a Professional at Everything like you.
If it's flawed, then maybe you should make your own Guide and stop crying about mine.

@ OP. Like I mentioned in my personal message to you, people here get there knickers in a twist whenever this topic gets raised. If you like aa on then play with it on. After all its your decision and no-one elses. Players who bag you for your preferences should worry about how they play and not how you play.
I wonder how many players here played through single player with aa off. And considering the sniper, rpg, chopper ,projectiles and shooting from a vehicle dont have an aa option while playing aa on I'd say playing aa on games does take skill. (unless your DKB in which using any of these weapons makes you a nOoB pu**y)

you don't seem to understand that each room is set to either AA on or AA off in the lobby.
If AA is on, you can still turn it off for yourself personally in the start menu, but then you might as well just join a AA off game. (you have preferences in your phone btw)

I used to always play with AA on and then after a while switched to manual aim, and I must say manual aim is alot more fun.

It adds alot more strategy to gunfights seeing as you don't just walk in, tap l2 and hit r2 a few times then the room is empty, with MA you need to take cover, think fast, use weapons strategically, plan routes etc and it's alot better.

Also, Free Mode with Manual Aim is just totally f*cking awesome with the map set to LC and 16 players. You can actually do drive-bys without getting shot by some douche with her auto aim on and gunfights last a bit longer which is awesome. No better feeling than when you have a shotgun, hide in a building and take em out when they step in, seeing as shotguns mean more when AA is off, because they can't just shoot you within 0.2 seconds with their pistol.

Don't play Autoaim, it takes the whole fun and challenge out of shooting , driveby's and using vehicles.

Only fools and new players that don't any better, use it.
