Bullf*ck!
XBOX 360 has the same amount of piracy as PC. Every new release is automatically on the warez sites in X360 version first.
Only PS3 has basically no piracy.
So following this logic, PC and X360 games should be ports from PS3

Thievery! |
Yet, PC is where all of this originated from and is done (in terms of downloading, burning images, ect). The primary problem for sh*tty ports is the fact that several developers have given-up on even trying to push a lot of money into a game for PC when they can just port it, throw some options in for FOV, resolution and AA. A reputable developer, such as CD Projekt Red, just doesn't acknowledge the pirates and leaves DRM out of their game all together - resulting in an over-flow of respect for the company and likely increased sales. And, do note, friend, that what I type is an opinion.

I would say CJ Projekt and R* are best in the industry, R* is starting to change though which worries me |
Sorry, but I don't believe that. Give me a legit source for this. As far as I know TF2 is free.. yeah, there are items which you can buy but nothing more. This would be beyond ridiculous if you have to pay more than 2€ for every MP match. No, it just can't be. And R* isn't still the best in industry.. they use DRM, they release few small DLC packages for small price. I don't know how they would be better than Valve where they still update games which are like five years old or more, they release all their DLC for free (at least on PC). About the DRM (steam), yeah.. the only one downside. This post has been edited by Freezer89 on Friday, Aug 17 2012, 11:52

They lost a lot of money to piracy on that game, money which was deservedly theirs after working so hard on the game. Why do you think they brought it to consoles? Not that difficult to port, and it allowed them to make a more stable return on the original investment. Leaving out DRM doesn't increase sales, it simply makes it even easier to pirate the game, and actually incentivises it for those who are too lazy/greedy to buy the game. Using bad DRM can reduce sales, Ubisoft's original DRM for Assassins Creed 2 is a good example, but a simple form of DRM is still necessary. If you can't pirate a game until a few weeks after release, it often convinces people to just buy the game, because it's more convenient than piracy. Ubisoft succeeded in getting many would-be pirates to buy the game, and accepted reduced sales on the platform as a result. The problem is that they sacrificed usability as well, and legitimate customers suffered. A good example of light DRM is Steamworks. Requires steam to activate, and it's much more convenient than piracy (since it's all digital, the servers are faster, and there's no way you're going to get a virus from Steam). In other words, the only place the DRM argument can survive is in the pool of ignorance, and I wish people wouldn't spread it. This post has been edited by gtasadude on Friday, Aug 17 2012, 12:01

| QUOTE (poncratias @ Friday, Aug 17 2012, 09:24) | So, I recently had a discussion with some gamer comrades at a big Lan party, and all of them have been really mad when we talked about Rockstar. Before it was one of the most beloved game developer studios, but now they are all just pissed off.
What interested me the most was that most of them agreed that they don't want to buy GTA V, but rather just piratecopy it.
This is an ongoing developement in the gaming communities, and although I understand their frustration over rockstar, I have to ask: Is this really a good way to show it? How about this community here? (though I don't think any of you would admit it) | they all need to be executed, you are the one to do this young one. execute them and show no mercy when doing it.

The question is, Why R* has long gaps between its games?
1)They want make the best game possible. 2)They just want f*ck their fans.
The easy choice is to launch a new game each year, as EA or ACTIVISION do .
You earn more money annualizing your franchises and releasing an update of the previous game, year after year, but at the end what EA or ACTIVISION do is to take advantage of the loyalty of its fans and sell to them the "same thing" every year.
Honestly, I want play the best game possible, if Rockstar need 5 years to do it for me it´s perfect. I will buy a legit copy.
