Just a little question: What makes everyone hate EA so much? |
They are completely money driven. They francise games out for money only. most of their games have yearly releases, and it's the same thing over and over - as explained.
Online pass - yup there's that too.
Mostly though it's the bugs.
Firstly playing online can be difficult. There's ALWAYS problems,
The games themselves are extremely poor quality. They're good games, but lazily done. The AI in Fifa for example is non existant. Barcalona losing 5-0 to a league 2 team, on legendary?
The biggest thing is their f*ck you attitude.
For 2/3 years a bug has existed in Fifa where, on pressing start, the game crashes. Fans have identified the problem and EA have done NOTHING to fix it.
Their idea of patching bugs is for you to buy the new game. BUT The bugs are still there.
I downloaded the madden demo and the first thing i saw was "... another great EA game."
Yeah, up your own arse much?
We live in the dark days of gaming, in that respect. There's brilliant games out and the tech's never been better, yet the companies are greedy and lazy, and DLC/Online passes etc are a prime example of that.
It is the games companies like EA activision and Ubisoft that incite piracy, then complain about it. Rockstar were one of the rare ones that had respect for gamers but even that seems to be fading - LA Noire whored out DLC, including console specific DLC, as did GTA IV (holding back EFLC fromPS3 users was disrespectful).
Money talks and EA know that. Once you buy their game, that's the end of it. Forget about support, or bug fixes. Anyone who's played Fifa (UT for example) will be well aware of this.
I rate games in four catagories.
"A list,
B list
C list an Z list
A list are games like Red Dead Redemption, proving that games can be made of high quality without f*cking the fans. R* released very little "whorish DLC" (See footnote) for that game and look how successful and esteemed it is.
B lists are games that interest me that i will buy, but are either not as good as the above or are marked by the black spot that is DLC/Exlusive content. This includes ANY Ubisoft game (It all started with Assassins Creed 2 - a fantastic game but they TOOK OUT 2 sections to sell to us later)
C list are games that interest me, but i refuse to buy new, due to the dev's attitudes. This now includes Fifa, Saints Row, and Splinter Cell - francises that have become corrupted by the greed
Z list games are ones that either dont interest me at all, or are too money grabbing to ever want to touch. This includes Call of Duty (i saw one new for 50 quid ffs) and need for speed.
And who's to blame
WE ARE. We are the ones that bow down and pay for the DLC. It is us who enable these companies to f*ck us over. If we simply said "F*ck off" to them saying "Here's the game but no, we'll take that back, youll have to pay again" then what would happen?
It is here that piracy comes in. Fifa, Call of Duty, Splinter Cell, AC - do i blame people for pirating these? No, not at all. In fact part of me supports it. Why? As said, we're given games with content consciously taken out, (Saints Row 3, Prototype, Assassin's Creed) to sell back to us. You wouldnt buy a car to have the dealer say "Oh but if you want the engine, that's extra" would you? Yet we do it with games. How long until we buy the map for £30, the missions for £20 and cars and weapons for £5 each?
Why should we stand by and nod while they rip us off?
Footnote:
I seperate "whoreish DLC" - additional memories in Assassin's Creed, content removed from the original game, weapon/map packs from Episodic content.
EFLC, Undead Nightmare, and many of the Fallout* DLC have shown us that a game can be released with DLC being WHAT IT SHOULD BE.
NEW! FIFA 13! (Note, stadiums, football, boots and goalkeepers not included. Online play only available after paying to give felation to the devs).
It's my opinion that these "tyrants" of gaming should be destroyed, or at least shown that gamers will NOT stand for this bs.
But as another topic here proved - many of you will still pay for the "extras" anyway.
*ignore the bugs for a moment
