72 is ok, but 96 is really pushing it. As I said before there are usually missions that require a certain time before they can be started.

I don't want to keep sleeping to advance the time. confused.gif

I'd say 60 would be about the limit I'd want to see. Assuming an emphasis on robberies is brought back, we'll want a fair amount of time at night to do this, but yeah, I wouldn't want to have to make several saves just to advance the time if it's too long.

The days are too short in current GTAs. The city feels more alive during the day, and in GTA IV it was too hard to see in some areas at night time.

At least 48, though I'd prefer 72.

Its not as simple as just setting it. There's a lot of thought that goes into something like that. You have to take into account the size of the map. The size of the player, and how fast cars will be driving. It's not just 'Oh let's make a day in-game an hour IRL.'

EDIT: Forgot to actually answer the topic. I think that if the map is big enough, it should be 1 IRL Hour = 12 IG hours.

Days in V should be longer than 48 min. One of the things I hated in IV was that literally walking across the street took 5 minutes from the game! Extending the in-game day length allows for more exploration and it slows down the urge to rush the game, which would bring more focus to exploration, creative side missions and quests and rpg.

Whatever it was in RDR(I think it was about 45 min) felt just right.

I'm pretty sure that RDR was 96 min.

Grand Theft Auto IV's days were 48 minutes long. To prove it, go on GTA IV and see how long it takes for one minute. I counted two seconds most of the time.

QUOTE (Secronom President @ Thursday, Aug 16 2012, 23:55)
Days always been twenty four minutes long (representing twenty four hours in game) and I don't believe they are going to change it.

Personally, I'm used to that system since I started playing Grand Theft Auto games and I prefer it that way and, honestly, forty eight minutes would be way too long in my opinion. About day and night transition: I feel it's alright as it is.

It's 48 minutes (2 seconds per in-game minute) a day in IV.
I think that was good.
Definitely not shorter than that and MAYBE 72 but I trust R* knows what they're doing anyway.

also in-game minutes should be in multiples of whole seconds. fractions of a second will just complicate things.
so it shouldn't be somewhere in the "middle".

Why do you put "24 min (standard)"? The standard in GTA IV is 48 hours, and for GTA V I want the same or more.

I think it would be interesting if they slowed the pace of the game down all together. It would be cool if you got pulled over for realistic things like going through a red light and driving on the sidewalk. If they were able to slow the pace of the game down I would love longer days and nights. I would also love for the seasons to change.

I think even 48 minutes is too short.. why not double it so it actually feels like having lived a day in gta iv?

Why is 24 minutes described as standard? It should be at 48 minutes.. throw in less than 48 minutes and more than 48 minutes in the poll.

It has been 48 minutes since IV (before that it was 24).. why would they go backwards again?

I prefer either as usual 48 minutes or even longer (72 minutes -> 3sec = 1min)

In the III era a day take 24 minutes. OT: I'd like 72minutes reallife are a day ingame. In GTA IV the shadows move too fast because time was too fast too. That looks weird in my opinion. monocle.gif

Ideally one minute in real time should equal about fifteen minutes in-game time. I think that's how is was in Red Dead Redemption. 96 minutes per day.

RDR had the time just about right. So what ever RDR is than that's what V should be.
