Well when I first started working as a chef at 15 I worked roughly 40+ hours a week. When I made it to sous chef I went to working around 72 a week. I did that for around 6-7 years and then decided that I couldn't do it any longer. Now I work about 20 a week. I manage the warehouse and the promotions of my local Co-op so I'm not needed that much yet still have a fair amount of responsibility. In all honesty, I like having these hours. I get enough money and have a good balance of free time.

39 hours a week on dayshift for 2 weeks. 40 a week on nightshift for 2 weeks is the basic. Tend to work 50 hours on both shift, as overtime is at time and 3/4's. Hard to say no to that rate.

So to answer the question:- some shifts at 9 hours, some at 12. Depends on how ass'd I am.

Depends.

I am currently self contracting and maintaining properties for my dad, basically, he pays me whenever I work. I'm repainting an historic building that he owns right now and am earning $100 a 'day' but will end up making $3000.

My days are roughly 6 hours, though, I am not working that thanks to the weather but I still get my $100. If I get the job done quickly I'll technically make more money than if I take too long.

So,

5 days = $500
If it takes me 2 weeks, I make more money than if it takes me 3 weeks per week.

3000/2 = $1500 per week
3000/3= $1000 per week
and so on.

It has taken me about 2 days ( 12 hours ) to sand the building. It will take me about 3 days ( 18 hours ) to paint all the windows. I think it will take me 3 days ( 18 hours ) to paint the building. In total, I shouldn't work more than 2 full weeks.

Usually paid 8 hours a day (9 with 1 hour break) varying between early and late shifts. Occasionally (like today) I have to work longer (6am-6pm in the case of today, sometimes longer).

Overall paid 40 hours a week.

Anywhere from 40-80 hours a week depending on a whole myriad of factors. Almost always work weekends (today is my saturday!) Christmas, New Year and most bank holidays as well!
Hospitality can be a bit grueling sometimes!

My school life is more like a work for me. confused.gif

6 hrs (7 to 13 hrs); Mon - Sat. If we count up, most of the students (others bunk the school) go to school for 36 hrs a week and if we add up a year, 2100 hrs approx. Oh man, I wish I lived in foreign.

I have to meet 200 hours per month, equally divided on 4 weeks. The shifts are either 8, 10, 12 or 24 hour shifts. You don't have to work the day after finishing a 24h shift, so it's quite acceptable. Yet I'm done with my 24h shifts for this month. EMS is easy peasy work, it can get a bit stressy sometimes though.

Well 0 at the minute. My uni course doesn't start until late September and I've got plenty of money in the bank, so I'm just a good for nothing lazy bum relaxing and taking it easy for now. I guess I'm a housewife at the minute, although I have no husband. More of a house bitch. I walk the dog, hoover, wash the pots and put them away, and just generally do my part to keep the place clean. No ironing though, I don't iron or do anything with clothes.

I average 60 to 70 hours a week. I don't usually get in to the office until 10 or 11am but I'm usually there until 12am as I have to deal with foreign clients.

Part time each week is about 8 hours total. Pretty sweet considering its 2minutes down the road from me and I get paid more than average wage. Customer service/food service kind of sucks balls though. The nice people are great, and the people I work with are cool but you get the worst kind of people walking in sometimes.

I'm still in university, but my workday with my part time job varies. All my shifts are usually rather weird hours and on any day of the week. My hours are really inconsistent too. One day I might not work at all, another day I might work for 2 hours from 5am to 7am, and another day or night might be a 8 to 14 hour shift. Some weeks I work less than 10 hours, others I work close to or over the 40 hour limit. Longest shift I've worked was 22 hours straight.

That's just unhealthy to work more than 12 a day. I appreciate that sometimes 'you gotta do what ya got to do' though.

I work from 8 til 16:30, although I always get in half an hour early, my boss is a bit of a stickler for time and I'm prone to panic attacks if my bus if even a few minutes late, so getting in early is good for my sanity.
