So recently I've bought a new PC with quite good specs (intel core i5-2430M 2.4GHz with TB up to 3.0GHz, 1GB Nvidia GT GeForce 520M, 4GB DDR3 Memory) and along with it, i've bought GTA IV which i was completely sure that ill run without any problems after seeing this video. BUT it isnt like it at all, game laggs EVEN ON LOWEST settings and it lags very much, its totally unplayable. I want to play this game SOOOOOOOOOOOO bad! Any help? Please!

Don't know much about Specs but update to Patch 7. If you are only want Performance, try Patch 4. Also, have you used commandline? Also, try some of my tips here to help you out with the lags. Hope it helps. smile.gif

Ok, have you tried cleaning up your PC? Defragments in your PC are FPS killer. Also, GTA 4 uses too much of CPU so it's better to shut down all background tasks. Game Booster will help you in this. Also, don't forget that GTA 4 is badly optimized for PC. Can you tell me your frame rates?

Idk how to detect FPS but if i had to guess i'd say 2-5FPS and i completely rebooted Windows 2 days ago so everything was deleted from HDD I will try Gamebooster in 20minutes because i have some things to do, and everybody keeps telling me that GTA4 is really bad portion from consoles and its really hard to run it but i found a lot of guys with SAME computer as me running it without any problems on Medium or even High...

To find the FPS, use the Benckmark Feature in the Graphic Settings. If it is above 30, then I would suggest you to be happy with it. If not, do what I said with a 'clean' reinstallation of GTA 4. I get 35 FPS after trying all these methods in my i3 chip. How you can't? mercie_blink.gif

Yeah, sure. It was also same like yours. But, soon then, my PC started to adapt GTA 4. Here is my commandline:
CODE
-width 640
-height 480
-novblank
-availablevidmem 3.9
-noprecache
-nomemrestrict

If you are ready to sacrifice some Graphics, I recommended you this. This should help you out.

Ok tried your commandline and it got better but its still 10-20FPS, but here what i noticed weird about it, FPS is the same on low, medium and high, so changing textures etc doesnt change anything..

GT520M is not a gaming GPU.

As for memrestrict making the issue worse, you were probably using it incorrectly -> http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=458859

Your laptop is using Nvidia Optimus Graphics monocle.gif

So i think you're using Integrated Graphics (Intel) in IV instead of Nvidia it self sarcasm.gif
You must change it first to Nvidia

Here's the steps : Shifty41s_beerhatsmilie2.gif
In Desktop > Right Click > Nvidia Control Panel > 3D Settings (Or similar) > Choose GTA IV Program > Change the "Integrated Graphics" presets to "Maximum Performance"

Many friends of mine have problem like this, and after the applying this steps they can play IV, surprisingly in All-High with playable FPS biggrin.gif
Even some with ENB sigh.gif

Sincerely wink.gif

Okay so.

After all of those things that you've written here, i used everything and the game is still unplayable, BUT my FPS turned into 20FPS, so its slightly better then before, but im noticing a new problem here - before those steps i did, in graphics settings there was written (for example)246MB of 989MB suddenly there is 200MB of 3850MB and "Warning: Your graphic settings are near, or exceed, the suggested resource limits for your system. It is recommended that you reduce your graphics settings in order to run the game optimally." while EVERYTHING is the lowest and I just can't raise it. But the game runs better (20FPS)

Your computer specs are not good. Laptops are not for gaming unless you buy $2000 gaming laptop.
