Welcome to the Gaming Chat GamesCom 2012 topic(surprise nobody made this yet)

GamesCom is Europe's answer to E3, and is the 2nd most largest gaming fair. This is the 4th time it's being held, in Cologne, Germany from 14.-19.08.2012 this time, and every time it's getting bigger and bigger.
Last year it was almost identical to E3 in terms of content, and content shown, but it's still growing, trying to take the show from E3.

So discuss here, what you expect of it, games shown, maybe some surprise announcements too(though i doubt), chat and post links during conferences, etcetras, as always with these topics.

Dates & times

Tuesday 14th August - Capcom, 11:00 CET
Tuesday 14th August - EA, 16:00 CET
Tuesday 14th August - Sony, 19:00 CET
Wedensday 15th August - Ubisoft, 15:00 CET
16th-19th August - Show Floor Public

Microsoft and Nintendo won't have their press conferences(i just learned of this), however, Wii U is to be revealed, as many analysts expect.

Sony & EA will broadcast Gamescom live on their websites, and IGN and Gamespot will also broadcast it. I'll add links to 1st post once they are live/shared via this topic.
Ubisoft and Capcom may only end up as text chat conferences, but we'll know more tomorrow. Others such as Konami, etcetra won't broadcast and will have smaller conferences as it was last year.

DICE general manager Karl Magnus Troedsson revealed at GDC Europe today that Battlefield 4 will be set in modern times.

You answered your own question (If it was a question). It's too close to E3 to make an entirely new thread, and it's not nearly covered as much. If anything big comes out of GamesCon, I'm sure it'll be one or two things that will either be discussed in other threads, or deserve it's thread of it's own.

I'd love to see some more of Splinter Cell Blacklist. Maybe multiplayer.

EDIT: BF4 set in modern times. Now I am kind of not loving the idea that it's coming so soon. I wish they'd make the single player aspect of the game a continuation of the Bad Company story, and have the multiplayer be what we expect a full on BF game to be.

Well i am interested for some more Black Ops 2, not really looking forward to many other games that are coming out and will probably be there. (Is activision even going?).

I really hate how the Gamescon site barely has any information on it, it's like they are not even trying to interest people.

'Remember Me'........

Capcom's announced a new action title for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, 'Remember Me', due for release in May, 2013.

The game is a futuristic action title is set in Neo-Paris in the year 2084. It focuses on the buying and selling of memories and features a mixes melee combat and Uncharted-esque platforming.

Just seen the videos for the Remember Me, looks like they've taken a couple of things from different games and mixed them together. Looks quite interesting will deffo have to keep an eye on this.

Apparently there are rumours that Valve will be revealing Half Life 3 this week as well.

New Medal of Honor shows more footage and actually makes me 100% that this is for sure a great FPS.

Battlefield 3 Expansion(s) look amazing. Can't wait for Aftermath aswell! But they could've also teased/announced the "bonus content drop" for Premium members instead of selling the "service" with the new Premium edition (which should've been the Special Edition actually... instead of "just" Back to Karkand bonus).

edit: Also the new Need for Speed by Criterion looks promising. Could be the first real racing game I'd actually play and buy for PC!

im not. been playing FPS for past 5 years and will continue to do so for the next 5 to 10 years. if you hate those games then just simply don't play it?

Capcom didn't get the original voice actor for Vergil in DMC? What the f*ck Capcom? How hard could that have been? And he looks like such a f*ckin' boyscout.

DmC looks like sh*t, who the f*ck is this "new" dante? and they didn't even get the old voice actor for vergil, what the f*ck capcom? RE6 looks generic too, why did they ruin the series, there is nothing remotly "scary" in that game it's all-action now.

Remember Me looks intersting though, but Crapcom will ruin it with million DLC packs
