I just thought about it, the loading screens between cutscenes - it was beautifully integrated with Max Payne 3, you just couldn't see them, instead you got a movie for story to follow, while in past GTA games, well...

user posted image

This stuck up for like 5 to 30 seconds depending on what machine you're on, and it really sucks.

I just wanted to discuss posibillity for Rockstar to make these loading screens invisible like in M.P.3 and see what would you think about it

Sounds like that'll be Rockstar's "bold new direction". Perhaps interactive cutscenes as well?

Interactive cutscenes? Eh, no.. it doesn't fit to a GTA in my opinion.

As for loading screens.. yeah, I think they should be limited. And like in MP3 they should loading parts or whatever while there is a cutscene. And just a quick fade out/in to gameplay. Or a seamless transition to gameplay would be nice too. But I think this feature is more suited for cinematic games like MP3.

Also you should consider that GTA is open world.

Interactive cutscenes would be kinda cool, kinda let you make a choice in those cutscenes. But i'm not sure. Personally the loading times in GTA IV never bothered me. It took a while for a savegame to load up, but after that, it was pretty ok.

I hope so for some new directions, but I think interactive cutscenes would be too much. Much people like my lil brother just skip them, while I enjoy the show Rockstar has put up.
For example GTA IV lacked some detailed dialog in the cutscenes - they were pretty much small talk and then directly go drive there and kill some guy, most of the talking was while driving the car, over the phone, or with the guy in pasenger seat, very often they don't finish their talking and Im already in place, which leaves huge hole in the context of the storyline.

Hmm I seriously hope that Rockstar don't do this.

Unskippable cut scenes because it's a loading screen aswell, f*ck that, I rather the 5 second loading black screen.

Cut scenes in the first playthrough is highly important but in a speed run, it is a bitch, especially when you reload or die, seriously, no.

It would be a stupendeous bold direction.

Unskippable cutscenes are loading time anyway. Eventually they should dump anything that takes the player out of the game.. but I'm quite fond of GTA's cutscenes actually. They do them extremely well.

Unskippable cut scenes masking loading screens actually elongate the load times.

So.. No, or ok, compromise. Give us both? You can view the cutscene or skip and you get your 5 second black screen. Everyone is happy.

yep.. most elegant solution, imo.. doesn't RDR do it like that, or am I making that game better in my mind, haven't played it for a minute.

I have to agree.

But this is really comparing apples to oranges. MP3 is a linear shooter that plays out more like an interactive film. GTA is like the polar opposite of that style of gameplay. I'd rather stick with skippable cutscenes and a few seconds of loading time than have forced cutscenes that I can't skip on repeated play-throughs.

Me too. Even though I mostly watch the GTA-cutscenes even on the 10th walkthrough...

But an option to pause the cutscene like in RDR is indispensable, I think.
Black loading screens never annoyed me.

The loading screens were fine in IV. I'm surprised that anyone was annoyed by them. Seriously they take like 4 seconds.

To be honest I never really had a problem with the loading screens. I don't mind at all since it's a huge game.

I hope no. In Max Payne 3 the cutscenes are better than a black loading screen BUT cutscenes were too long and some of them couldnt even be skipped. Sometimes you had to wait 2-3 min! In GTA IV the loading screen was OK. It didnt took so long. 10sec maybe? Better that than a 3 min cutscene which isnt skipable.

The cutscenes instead of loading screens was cool during my first MP3 playthrough, when I actually cared about that stupid story, but once you want to skip them, you realize it's complete BS. Loading screens don't take that long. Sometimes you're forced to wait minutes and you have keep pushing the skip button because nothing tells you when you're at a part you can skip.

I just want the black loading screen.
