Was sitting around thinking, Has anyone thought of the idea of GTA V's storyline to be about a guy who's family gets kidnapped and you have to come up with the money in order to get them back, taking an entirely different spin on the GTA series? if not, i just wanted to be the first person to throw that idea out there.

other than the kidnapping of that girl, there's plenty different directions they could go with it. it was a broad idea, but just imagine the intricacies that Rockstar puts into their storylines. there is HEFTY potential just starting with that idea and snowballing from there.

Reminds me of the San Andreas storyline and what I found wrong with it: What's the dude doing helping some guy blow up miniature airplanes while his brother's in jail?

Kinda seems like RDR. You have to do work for them and they give you back your family.

Reminds me of RDR too. I hope there's no family aspect in GTA V.

This is the problem when R* tries to create a deep story. It's still just some normal guys writing for an awesome game.

maybe he was coming in to this new job that was going to be in the city, maybe that tower, over seein stuff, family moved in to a new house, and he found out about some underground seedy sh*t going on. he wants to tell the authorities but, but they kidnap his family and hold them ransom, then he's got to get the money! with the crop dusting, they spray it in the air to put the people in the area where they are doing this robbery to put people to sleep temporarilly. that's why they have the masks, clearing out the area and robbing places. using maybe not cj but some other guy's help as diversion from the cops during all that too, so the cops are chasing them during it as extra diversion. i think it's a pretty cool idea. there could be the different story lines right there. multiplayer you could do that together, like having someone playing the person distracting the cops, someone crop dusting the town so get people out, and someone robbing like a bank or jewelery store or something.

and afterwards, in the expansions and DLC, they could turn the story into people using the crop dusters to infect the land with zombies! Zombies in the world of Grand theft auto would be absolutely wild

didn't The Getaway used that plot ? they shot your wife and kidnapped your boy, you have to work for them if you want your boy back.

How about we just stick with the good ol' tried and true formula Rockstar's been using all these years? It obviously works. Sounds good to me. 'Nuff said!

How about an angle where he's disowned by his family? His wife runs off with another guy and his kids pretty much hate him. Not really an original idea, but it could be interesting for a GTA title.

I really think Rockstar should move on with family man. It wouldn't really fit GTA well. RDR was another story.

Prefer a younger guy who isn't married. More players can relate to him more.

A story where the guy starts off with no knowledge or experience of the criminal world would be cool. As he learns, you learn.

San Andreas was similar, you were working to get Bryan back.

Why not just make it like The Punisher storyline? Family gets murdered and you're out for revenge.

Hey, here's a better idea. How about you're an alcoholic hitman called out of retirement when your kid gets killed by some mafia or whatever. And you go around doing all these "jobs" for various baddies(Japanese mob, Italian mob, Russian mob, etc.), only underneath it all you're secretly pitting them against one another. Making it look like it's one mob doing it, when it's really not. Or that one person in a certain mob is going against their own organization.

That'd be at least 75-80% original. Haha. Just a thought. 'Nuff said!
