Mmm hooters.. I just asked for a Hooters flag for the forums. Welding can be fun man, depending on the type of job you get for it. I build custom motorcycles but I just started a normal job for the benefits and abit better security as far as work goes. I was able to fabricate what I wanted, which is always fun. I used to also make custom oyster roasts, grills and BBQ cookers. Made some good money doing that.. but the job I started today, Is purely pipe welding, industrial though. 20" diameter pipe and such, the same repetitive welding can get boring but I'm not arguing with the money I'm making. Had to dip out early today, which luckily the Supervisor understood my situation and let me off to handle some personal stuff. Welding can take you to alot of places, especially if you're young and jump on with the Ironworkers (which I worked with while in service, on leave and what not) I was able to travel around and do some amazing jobs. If you don't mind heights, but it's hard work. If you learn TIG welding, you can make damn good money man. But if you have a feeling of doing the Military thing, I'd suggest to roll with that man. More opportunities once you get out, especially if you take the medical route bro. Not much work out for there for Infantry, not many people want to hire lean, mean, killing machines if you catch my drift. sh*t man, do some welding on the side, iron gates, fences, handrails, grills, etc. Easy and good cash.

That's what my dad tells me alot, my uncle showed me how tig welding leaves the prettiest weld and how you can make a good bit of money if you have the skill. Since I'm new to welding my uncle told me he was going to teach me welding with the machine that feeds the wire thru the gun (forgot the name, just woke up and still drinking coffee so sorry about that.) and then he was going to teach me some tig welding and plasma cutting. But this summer I am finally the age to get a real job besides pushing dumb carts around a damn parking lot, so I am going to work for my dad's company doing heavy construction. His company dose a good bit with wielding like building bridges, building pump stations, all the way to laying drainage pipe in subdivisions. They do a good bit of wielding every day and my dad always tells me he wishes he would of learned wielding when he was my age. Plus if I really get into it I can work in there new fabrication shop so I can learn more. Pretty sick too cause the shop is half the size of wal mart and they just purchased a water jet machine, how that machine works is amazing! But yea I am still young and still have some time before I decide to going into the military career but I was raised around construction, hell I learned how to drive a excavator when I was probably two, so I am going to do this for a year or two and try to get a truck and see where that takes me. | QUOTE | | Mmm hooters..
