i noticed recently that the code button has been changed so you can not highlight text and click code, you now have a box come up.

i found it easier when you could highlight the text and click code (especially for the gfx request section when you have to post about 10 images with the code underneath)

could it be changed back? or changed so that you can highlight the text and hit code and the box does not pop up?

Not sure what you mean. Highlighting text in the box and then hitting the 'Code' button makes said text into code for me...

ah it somehow changed to guided mode? i changed it back to normal and it works fine. im sorry about that. disregard what i said in first post thank you for the help
