On the vehicle handling, GTAIV is still the best in my opinion in comparison to the rest. Had a try once of the latest Saints Row... doesn't come close.

Plus the fact that it syncs so well in multiplayer, which is a big thing they take into consideration when coding it. Racing games which are just based on racing often syncs horrible in comparison, although I suppose they have a lot more going on in that they have to simulate a great many type of vehicles and various other variables.

That said, every major epic release of GTA had updated vehicle tech, and I'm sure we'll see some significant advancements in GTAV - in comparison to GTAIV which was coded largely 5-7 years ago.

For characters, not being able to stand on moving platforms such as vehicles was certainly a limitation which arose with Euphoria... but I think it would have anyway been difficult when you take, again, multiplayer synchronization into account (it would be fine if the character just crouches down and never moves, but as soon as he starts walking on a moving vehicle that becomes difficult to sync between players). Take for example trains in Red Dead Redemption, which they didn't add in multiplayer because of the difficulties of syncing moving Euphoria powered players on a dynamically moving platform.... just wasn't priority I imagine.

We'll see how far they've come. If they did fix that, they deserve awards just for that alone.

I had absolutley no problem with the controls, I loved them, Took some time to get used to in the beginning, but after a while, I perfected it, I loved driving motorbikes, I think it had great controls, but of course there is always something to improve upon, so I guess we will see better handling and such... as for the helicopter on PC and console, it was great. I don't see the problem with it all...

cut-scenes and facial details from LA Noire

What the hell are you talking about? They aren't going to include all that crap into GTAV.

Right, the rumors come from the Team Bondi head Brendan McNamara (Rockstar 'looking at LA Noire face tech,'
"I think they're looking at it for every game."), who said it in a try to reestablish a good relation with R*,a relation broken during the infernal development of LA noire.

"I've heard a lot about Rockstar's disdain for Team Bondi, and it has been made quite clear that they will not publish Team Bondi's next game. Team Bondi are trying to find another publisher for their next title, but the relationship with Rockstar has been badly damaged...," R* source.

"Part of the conflict between Team Bondi and Rockstar was due to Rockstar's frustration with Team Bondi's direction, and eventually Team Bondi's management in turn resented Rockstar for taking lots of creative control. It's also worth pointing out that Rockstar used to be very keen on making Team Bondi something like 'Rockstar Sydney' – the more they worked with Team Bondi management, the more they came to understand that this was a terrible idea."

GTA V will not use L.A. Noire's MotionScan Tech.

I don't get the vehicle control hate. I found it to be the closest an open-world game like GTA has gotten to top-notch driving and car designs. Yet, of course, there's always room for improvement.

@bud23
I thought Team Bondi has went down under completely? But yeah there's no way GTA V will use MotionScan. I have no idea what happened to the guys who made that technology, but Rockstar said that they'd only use it for fitting games. Anyway, Rockstar has been doing well with facial animation and details lately, for the most part.

Remember GTA 4 was R* first next-gen game. Now; however, they've got the beautiful graphics and updated player control/movement from RDR, cut-scenes and facial details from LA Noire and the amazing shooting mechanics from MP3. This is going to be amazing!

They not using the motion scan tech from LA Noire sad.gif

your average player of GTA wouldn't have the time or patience for that and would say "This game is bullsh*t" and either cheat or quit.

LOL. It became clearer with each of your posts that you just suck big time at controlling. How should anyone take your posts seriously? On the other hand though, we could take your lack of coordination seriously and help you out in that department! lol.gif lol.gif

Also, cherrycola, MM and Miami just triple-owned your whining ass.

yeah last I heard Bondi went bust, R* scooped up the talent and MacNamara is left pitching a PSN/Live game. Rockstar may have looked at motion scan for their games, but only to realise that A- it's too cumbersome to work with, B - is never going to give a fully natural perfomance C- there are much better performance capture techs right around the corner. D - they don't want to get lost in uncanny valley.

I found it a little tough to move the character in GTAIV.It took me awhile before I got used to it.Jumping and street-fighting are a bit rugged in GTAIV.I sure hope that street-fighting will be improved.

Street fighting was amazing. I loved it. Euphoria made it unbelievably realistic.

A lot of people have mixed feelings on it. Personally I love the counters. Niko would do serious damage if he was real.

I never used counters. They would end the fight to quickly, and it was all canned animation. I mostly fought just to watch and admire the physics.

The funny thing is up until recently I had no idea you could counter. Also the way Niko slashes with the knife is pretty brutal.

I agree the car handling in GTA4 is fantasic in my opinion, makes driving around feel so nice. If they were to make it like Saints Row or San Andreas vehicle handling it would take away a lot of the fun of going for a cruise around!

The driving physics are fine. It's easy to drive in GTA IV without crashing into everything. Honestly it makes the GTA III era look like a joke aswell as a few later sandbox games.

IMO the hate comes down to some simply not being able to get a handle on it. Not because it's actually bad. Think of it when people say a particular sport sucks. Chances are they tried it themselves and were no good.

I guess it's in our nature to complain about something we're sh*t at.

I think the cars are fine for power sliding and all but standing on top of them should defiantly be in. The sound is super annoying though when changing gear.
I would actually like to see them go back to SA motorbike system, i doubt they would but falling off is a huge pain and so is the handing. Doesn't help with terrible AI.

i love counters but hated the fighting system. It was so lacking in my opinion. Slightly more in depth, make it feel like fighting more than the game did imo.

Driving in IV was nigh on perfect. The cars were a little bouncy (turning a corner in a bus made it lean far too much for example) and this could be seen by using a first person/cockpit camera. IV's driving needs nothing more than a tweak.

Yes,Team Bondi is kaput since august 2011 and has sold its assets and intellectual property to Kennedy Miller Mitchell ,KMM, a Sydney production studio that works across a range of media, including games.

The last try to save the Team Bondi was when Brendan McNamara spoke about that Rockstar was considering the implementation of L.A Noire's MotionScan face capture technology in all of its new games. These news are from July 2011.

By early september 2011 Team Bondi closed its doors and entered administration.

Yeah I guess it is just people who suck at driving on it that are complaining, its one of my favourite games to just go for a drive on, but yeah the standing on cars needs to be better implemented, would love to be able to stand in the back of a pickup for example and hold on tounge.gif

oh yeah that's right. Forgot about that.

KMM is the director of Mad Max' company. Could be good if they have serious plans to make games

I f*cking loved the driving physics in GTA 4. It's actually difficult to take corners. There's nothing better than the feeling of accomplishment when you finally figure out your "sweet spot" for powersliding around corners in a random vehicle.

I could sit here every single day and just try out different cars. I'd say my favorites are the Serrano, Sabre GT, F620, a couple of the sedans are pretty cool.
