Do you guys think that GTA V will offer an updated game engine? I liked it in GTA IV but I hated how we couldn't stand on moving boats/cars(except TBoGT) without falling. Also, the glitch where you walk like an uncontrollable retard for about 10 seconds was very annoying. What updates would you like to see made to it?

Yes. Obviously.
I'd like the cars to not handle like sh*t, the player to not handle like sh*t, the gunplay to have nothing to do with cover systems, the helicopters to not handle like sh*t, the motorcycles to not handle like sh*t, and the game to be slightly less sh*t then GTA4.

Facepalm. Maybe you just suck at playing games?
The vehicles all act like their tires are made of ice and the road it covered in ice. Try to do a powerslide, try it.
The helicopters are dull and are terribly imprecise.
They even knew the motorcycles handled like sh*t, they slightly improved TLAD's cycle handling.
GTA was never meant to use cover systems, and the worst part is they aren't even good. It's far too difficult to just get out of the damn things, and half the time Niko powerslides on the wrong side into the open.
It ends up just being a lock-on shooting gallery which is only slightly more stimulating than watching paint dry.
I dunno about you guys but I've been playing GTA IV, a sh*t LOAD, with realism mods (a custom weapons mod with delayed hits that add more skill to gunfights, weapon storage so you can store guns and ammo in your safehouses, weapon weight so you can keep bigger guns in a bag but be slowed down by the excess amount of bulk, and realistic car damage/handling, Arrest Warrant so you have a persistent "bounty" like Red Dead Redemption, among others). It's not too difficult or boring or annoying, it just requires a slight change of playstyle, it makes me think more like a real criminal in a real world, instead of the anti-hero protag who can stuff rockets, guns, bottles in his pants and take rounds of 5.56 NATO to the chest. It requires you to make each second of what you're doing count for what it's worth.
What my point is, a lot of these realistic gameplay features that some think might break GTA's formula actually (for me at least) makes the game better, makes the game more thrilling. Each turn in every chase becomes a moment that can make or break your escape from the cops.
The cars in GTA IV to me felt very realistic in an action movie stuntman kind of way, like Niko had a sense of how to control the vehicles and you are playign through that sensibility if that makes any sense.
I say, give me as much realism as they can make fun, because with these mods I'm having a f*cking BLAST of a time until GTA V

Remember GTA 4 was R* first next-gen game. Now; however, they've got the beautiful graphics and updated player control/movement from RDR, cut-scenes and facial details from LA Noire and the amazing shooting mechanics from MP3. This is going to be amazing!

While I don't disagree that that would be nice (I used to play a little DayZ and really enjoyed it), your average player of GTA wouldn't have the time or patience for that and would say "This game is bullsh*t" and either cheat or quit.

What the hell are you talking about? They aren't going to include all that crap into GTAV.
On other points, I did find some player animations were overdone to the point of being idiotic (especially the falling animation after being hit slightly.) For me the bike controls were just plain awful, to the extent I steered clear off bikes in GTAIV as much as possible. They "redid" it in TLAD, but they basically made it so it became very hard to fall from the bike. The cars definitively lacked mass with centres of mass being placed incorrectly. Heli controls on the keyboard were terrible for me and I hope they can do something about that.

True, heli's are a Payne in the ass on the keyboard. It would be very nice if it was like in battlefield 3. I actually prefer keyboard/mouse over a controller for flying, unlike most other games.

Either you have a problem judging how fast you're going, or you don't know how to use the brakes.

Lol, I do powerslides all the time in this game. It's actually easier to do it in IV because you have more control on the car and you can "feel" the weight of it. In SA, a lot of the times I would just spin around.

No, they aren't... It's beginning to sound like you played this with a keyboard. Is that the case? You should get a controller.

They just made it harder to fall off. Is that what you want? To be able to crash without falling off?

What do you mean? Is there some GTA Bible that dictates what should and should not be?
It's not perfect, but that means improve it. I love the cover system. You say it's all about locking on and firing, as opposed to doing the same in every other GTA game you mean? I actually used grenades quite extensively fighting behind cover. The raid on the construction site, revenge etc. and I got pretty damn good at putting them where they needed to go.
Next thing you'll tell us is GTA was never meant to be 3D. The series either evolves and progresses or it dies.

I agree. Cover makes shootouts feel more intense IMO. Not that cartoon out in the open crap from the GTA III era.
cherrycola is right. If you don't like cover then don't use it. Why should the rest of us how our experience hindered because someone doesn't think cover should be in GTA?
I mean sure it's not perfect, but like a lot of things in GTA IV it was the first GTA to utilize it. It's been getting progressively with each R* title.
I don't think some take into consideration R* were trying a lot of new things in GTA IV that of course weren't perfect.

Yeah, IV's physics were definitely too far, too over the top, cars all weighed like a ridiculous amount and you're right, centre of gravity definitely was not right, and bikes were horrid. I think this video illustrates the physics, and is hilarious at the same time haha.
As for the OP's question, of course the physics will be updated, they have updated it for every Rockstar developed game release since GTA IV.
I hate the physics in GTA IV. The cars felt so heavy and slid around corners and smacked into cars. Niko took forever to run in a circle, he ran like he had a giant stick up his ass and if he got hit then he'd go flying.
If it feels like Redemption did then I'll be happy.
