Hey there. Just today I went to a local shop and they had some neat Dell (ugh, I know) desktops with these specs:

Intel i5-2400 3.10GHz
6GB RAM
500GB HDD (this doesn't matter to me)
AMD 6400 series graphics card (it didn't say which one, but I assume it's a crap HD 6450)

The rest must be some no-name stuff, can't remember it on top of my head.

The thing is, this all goes for £299 and has 6-month warranty.

I tried to look for something like this on internet, with my best find being one on overclockers.co.uk system configurator - the system turned out to be for £560 or so, which is almost the double and it actually had a HD 5450 instead.

So, I thought before I buy this bargain PC, why not ask you guys if you got something better in your supplies. I want an i5, the RAM should be 4 to 8 gigs and that's it. The graphics card could be a Intel HD3000, as long as I can put a decent one in. If I stay with this one, I'll upgrade the 6400 series card to a 7970 or better 6 months later, after the warranty runs out. And probably tuck a nice SSD in.

Thanks in advance.

That's a very good deal. Do some research on the case (the amount of case fans it has/the space for additional case fans) and the PSU (manufacturer, wattage).

If they both check out, thats an incredibly good deal and you should definitely get it.

The bloatware can be gotten rid of. Just use your own 7 disc and do a format and fresh install and you're ready to go.

Probably on sale at reduced price to get rid of it, so like warlord said ^ That is actually a bargain.

Thanks for the suggestion, but isn't that a dual core processor? I've gotten quite sick from PCs with dual core processors and found my Q6600 getting quite slow anyway.

For the graphics card - It has bumped the price of £69 to £93-105 since the last time I saw it. I don't know what's the reason, it actually surprised me. I'd rather wait for the card's price to drop down if I would stick to this.

Plus the RAM is not as much I really hoped for as this build is over the price of deal I can get.

For the budget - I had no idea how much I could spend until I saw that deal. So I guess I could crank it up to 350, but only if it's a very good deal. Yojo2 gave me 2, but they're over £300 and a bit worse.

It just seems that I should go for the deal, it even has Windows 7 installed.

P.S. Ccrogers, if it really is that clogged up with sh*t, I'll try to clean it. If it's not possible, I'll pop a Windows 8 installation disc in there.

I highly doubt that HD7770 ever costed £69, you must have confused it with HD7750 of sth.

But yeah, now that I look at my PCs this Dell seems like a decent deal.

A friend of mine bought 7770 for £89 pounds and that made me look for a new computer, because I thought such card couldn't be so cheap before. Then when I looked up sites to build a PC, I saw the Sapphire 7770 for £69 and showed it to my friend. It was the exact same site and graphics card he bought and it had lowered price in the next day, which made him regret his choice.

Now I can show him how a good deal that was.

It must have been an one-off price cut... honestly, HD7770s have always costed ~£90.
