I was just looking over the screenshot with the helicopter over Los Santos, and after spotting the building that is under construction, i thought "I wonder if at some point during the game, the construction will actually be complete?". This would CERTAINLY be considered something ambitious. Perhaps we could see several things within the map that would change over time, at least throughout the single player campaign. Imagine having a mission or two, where you had some kind of interaction with a place that would later be dompletely different. For example, early in the game, that condominium which is under construction would play a role in some early mission, then later in the game, when construction is complete, you could then purchase an apartment in the top of that condo. There could be OTHER scenarios where places on the map could change as well. What do you guys think?

I remember in GTA IV on the first island there was a little construction site next to a gas station. The gas station and the construction site were near the first Pay N' Spray. That site looked the same every time...

| QUOTE (mvega0422 @ Monday, Aug 6 2012, 22:09) | | Well here's the thing: sure they can do it, it's been done in many many video games, but not in real-time. It's simple to switch a broken bridge into a functional one. What really probably isn't possible right now is for the building to actually be built as you stand there and watch. I'd say there's no way of them doing that, but yeah that mile high club could be finished by the end of the game or after a mission or something. | I wouldn't expect to stand and watch in "real time", because you can't really see noticeable progress on a construction site in the real world anyway. You could only notice major changes through time lapse photography. It would be cool however, to see some changes as you go through that area at certain points in the game. Perhaps in quarterly increments, like have the building in 4 different stages, from the beginning of the game, until the end.

Perhaps we could see several things within the map that would change over time, at least throughout the single player campaign. | It's definitely possible. All it means technically is swapping out the models every few missions or so. That's the cheapest way to do it, anyway. Unless you want actual building going on, which would be like a pre-animated cutscene placed in the world. Technically not difficult to do, just a lot of work doing the animations for. At this point it's a little over-ambitious but for next gen it's a logical next step for open world games. I don't think V is gonna have it also because it doesn't really play into the concept of the game, because not a lot of time passes in a GTA story. The protagonist doesn't get significantly older and the game is all about immediacy. It's much better suited to the story in a game like Mafia that tries to tell a longer history.
