As the article explains, evidence has been found in the Source filmmaker files of a new engine along with Ep. 3.

For those not aware, Valve has said nothing about Episode 3 for a long time now. It looks like they may have the intention of debuting the episode on a new next-gen engine. This leads me to speculate if episode 3 might end up being Half Life 3 itself since Valve introduced the source engine in HL2.

Whatever the case, it looks promising that we'll see new HL on a new engine sooner than later.

Like you said Half Life 3 would seem much more appropriate considering the its a new engine.

No doubt the engine is not only made with computers in mind but also next gen consoles which I am sure Valve have dev kits for. Interesting to see if there going to have the WiiU in mind as well, I suppose it depends on how powerful the next gen offerings from sony/Microsoft are.

This is fantastic news. I think they will call it HL3 and are waiting for next-gen. consoles in order to release the game on everything that can handle it, at once. I'm glad to see Valve is learning how to count to three. Baby steps.

I think they ditched Episode 3 and are doing HL3 now. I heard it's repeating MP3 and AW development with some stuff rethought and redone.
