I've seen panorama pictures of mars, but not in this way. Cool.

P.S. It's not really from Curiosity, but was uploaded last month.

This Picasso-like self portrait of NASA's Curiosity rover was taken by its Navigation cameras, located on the now-upright mast. The camera snapped pictures 360-degrees around the rover, while pointing down at the rover deck, up and straight ahead. Those images are shown here in a polar projection. Most of the tiles are thumbnails, or small copies of the full-resolution images that have not been sent back to Earth yet. Two of the tiles are full-resolution.

Cant wait to see the full landing sequence in hd. Watched the thumbnail version but looking at that heat shield shot its going to be much better. They said it would take 2 to 3 weeks to pull the 297 hd pictures back from mars of the decent. That crater looks pretty immpresive exspecially the outer rim.

Turns out there was life on Mars and this probe squashed it when it landed, it was a little Black and White Tabby that went by the name of Tibbles.

Apparently Curiosity really did kill the cat.

Anywho they are going to be running software updates on the rover shortly, I really hope they've based it on Linux. But once it's done it supposed to mean we'll be getting loads of new pictures and then it will carry out the experiments and then start to relay the data.

PS Sweet as that image is could you thumbnail it, this stretch is mental.

Its a pity they have to land on such flat boring plains when Mars really has some amazing things to see.

I saw someone put a sepia filter over a black and white photo from Curiosity and thought it was ugly as hell. So I decided to try and color it myself.

Yeah, because crashing the rover and smashing it to pieces would be totally worth it. joking

It's quite funny how due to the sheer size of the images, re-sized images look almost like CGI.

Haha, this page stretch made it difficult to find the "Add Reply" button.

What an incredible sight. Although I had expected the planet to have a red fog around, though I daresay my expectations have been shaped by Hollywood fantasy.
Isn't it amazing, that in our life we're able to see the first colour photographs of Mars? Truly a watershed moment in our history. Now, we just have to get some people up there.

Interesting places are difficult to land in, especially without a pilot.
