I read what you said but if its used companies will start to use it and it will end like how Kinect is in most Xbox games.

The OP has a great idea and it is further enhanced by his idea that you could enter your own physical capabilities into the playable character, to experience what it would be like to live and fight in the GTAV sandbox as your true self. I think that would be a great variant on the game.

In practice, I expect that body-scanned avatars will be a commodity in a few years. Maybe GameStops will offer it as a service someday. There are already some means to do it. Here is a paper about using multiple Kinects and some algorithms to do this: Scanning 3D Full Human Bodies using Kinects

I was thinking more of standing naked in front of a camera that scans your whole body. Like them sports titles do with your face. However I like your way of thinking.

nah i dont think i could play as myself and watch myself get shot up and shot in the head and die and involved in crazy crashes... you dont want to feed that to your spirit especially if you live in Los Angeles where people die everyday over gang violence and wild car chases/crashes id rather play as a made up character and run him through the mud..

I remember back when tony hawks underground came out you could scan your face and be in the game. Idk about full body scan (should be similar right) but I think if we did it in 03' it's very possible now to at least do a face scan.
