Didn't like the first one much, same for the second. I played SR3 alittle bit, i thought some features were fun like how you could grab someone and throw them off buildings and what not, it looked hilarious. And the melee combat felt good too, but i never had the intention to buy the game and i still haven't either. It was advertised as being incredibly fun and back to how GTA used to be, but i don't think it's really that fun at all. It certainly is not funny, that's for sure.

I'm a diehard Saints Row fan, but f*ck me SRTT sucked balls! I'm not even getting Saints Row 4. Infact I wouldn't even let me dog play it. It was awful. Worst game ever!

Apart from ET made by Atari.

Didn't buy Saints Row cause how it looked and I'm glad I didn't. People say that's the worst one. I'm going to wait for Assassin Creed 3.

The whole permanent Zombie Island really killed it for me. Sure, have a zombie mode, but not one that makes a whole section of the map infested forever.... The most annoying part is how they spawn behind you constantly as you turn around. I only played in that area for a bit, but it was quite annoying and I hated everything about it.

I did like how you could upgrade your buildings, save cars, customize cars etc. etc... Although, while the features were nice, everything was in a cartoon type style or just way over the top and that just ruined it all for me.

I only played it for an hour or two at a friends place, but that was plenty for me and I haven't had the urge to play it again. Maybe I'll rent it someday, but probably not.

G4 and other reviewers acted like it was the best of the series, but I'd say the exact opposite. SR1 was a good placeholder for GTA, with an idiotic storyline. SR2 had decent customization. SRTT was only worth playing to marvel at the sheer retardation.

Saints Row 2 was nice. SRTT was a step back.

SR2 was one of my top games of 2008, and it really is a classic. It's also hella fun.

But SR3 forgot what made SR2 so special. It was a pretty typical gangster-scenario game, not too unlike what GTA used to be, but you yourself were allowed to be absolutely crazy, making you feel like a sociopathic hazmat worker/zombie/gay pimp/fat prostitute in an otherwise grounded world. SR3 made you feel almost boring in a world filled with craziness and colors.

Plus they took out all the fun minigames like fight club and fuzz, and left the boring-ass repetitive annoying ones like heli-assault and mayhem (Which really needs to be renamed quick fence demolition).

I begged and begged volition to put multiplayer in SR3 but many on the SR forum ridiculed me. mad.gif If it had free roam or a good deathmatch I would still be playing it. Just like others have stated, after I beat it last December I had no real incentive to play it any longer or buy DLC's. I think they "get the picture" now, I think they are "elightened" enough to have it in SR4, and it better be good.

Also

SR2 > SR1 & SR3.

So much GTA fanboyism in this thread. Yes, I realize this is a GTA forum, but it's like people automatically detest challengers in the sanbox game genre. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people who are hating on the Saints Row series haven't even played it.

I played it at a friends house and while the initial novelty was nice I knew that there wouldn't be much replay value and I would tire of it very quickly.

My history with the Saints Row franchise:
Got SR1 on 360 a few months after it came out to see if it could hold me over till GTAIV. Didn't get much into it but it was fun driving around causing mayhem in an HD city.

Got SR2 a long time ago as part of the THQ pack on Steam. I couldn't even play it because the developers royally f*cked up the PC version to the point where the game actually runs worse on powerful PCs. I laugh every time someone calls GTAIV PC a broken port...they haven't seen SR2 PC.

Got SR3 when it was on sale this past month. I had heard that the game was much better and was better optimized so I decided to give it another go. The first mission was cool but once I actually started on other missions, I'd frequently get crashes during them. Every time it crashed, I lost my progress for that entire mission and had to start over.

I do love how for SR2's marketing they were making fun of GTAIV at every chance they got yet in SR3 they copied a bunch of stuff from GTAIV. For example, the SR3 map closely resembles GTAIV. They even copied the art style of the map in the map menu. How original.

The SR is one weird video game series. It has crazy customization options and gameplay...its more suited to kids then adults. If sandbox games were shoots, SR would be the equivalent of COD.

Now Sleeping Dogs will have to be the game to get while waiting for GTA V. I have always had more fun playing the True crime series. Much more stuff to do as well as coolor character motions; but it had two disadvantages: the major lag/freezing and graphics.

Sleeping dogs will be more entertaining(than any SR game) imo.

Iv'e only played Saints row 2, and it was fun for a few days, but the city is lifeless and is no where on the same level as Gta.

If i saw Saints row 3 in the bargain bucket for under 5 then id probably think about buying it.

I bought SRTT on the day it came out, and really wished I hadn't.

GTA V is gonna blow every single sandbox game outta the water.
