I recently upgraded to windows 7 from xp. I installed my game on my external hard drive. None of my saved games are showing up. I tried transferring my documents from my c drive to my external but the games still don't show up. When I had xp, this method worked fine with all of my games that I had installed on my external. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

windows 7
nvidia geforce 8400 gs 512mb
Intel pentium 4 cpu 2.4ghz
3 gigs ram

Did you forget to Delete the gta_sa.set file?
Are you running the game with Admin Privileges, and in W98 mode?
Did you install from your DVD or just copy paste?
Play the game "new" game, save, and then search for *.b file to find where they go.

I did delete the gta_sa.set file. When I had xp I never had to run with admin privelages or in w98 mode, so no I didn't try that. I installed the game from direct2drive which is now gamefly. I did play a new game and saved and the only saved game that is showing is the first mission, big smoke. Installing the game and transferring the documents to my external worked fine on xp but dosen't seem to work with windows 7. I guess If I have to, I'll reinstall the game on my c drive. I was trying to avoid that because my external has alot of space. Thanks.

XP saves in a different spot than the Win 7 does, sometimes.
XP is the 'native' Operating System that's why it didn't need the Admin Priv. or the W98 modes.
The Win 7 is so 'far advanced' that it doesn't like older games, which I feel is the intent to force new purhcases.
Download (V3) games seem to have altoghether too many problems running.

So my thought was to save a new game, to search where it is, then you could copy your old save games to that location.

I have windows 7 on my computer as well and I installed the game on my c drive and it works fine with the saved games. My son's computer is the one I upgraded from xp to windows 7 but it dosen't have nearly the amount of space mine does which is why I installed it to the external but I agree with you, xp does save different saves than windows 7. I think I'm going to just reinstall it to the c drive, that will solve this entire problem. When I used that computer I had alot of games installed on the external but he dosen't play any of them so they were never reinstalled after I installed windows 7. I tried copying his saved games to the location but the only saved game that shows up is his first mission. He can play and save but none of his previous saves will show up. Thanks for your help.
