There was a lot of street racing in that. I was glad when I saw an actual track but almost 90% of that was street stuff. I hope they do proper track events and Le Mans still.

Yas Marina is in there so we should get at least some track stuff.

Another interesting preview on IGN;

"Even at this early stage, Grid 2 is breathtaking to behold. Rival drivers have been sent to AI cram school, now boasting over 60 distinct abilities which will allow personal grudges and race styles to evolve. Dynamic vehicle damage – already one of the finest points of Grid 1, with cars’ handling changing based on impacts – is similarly enhanced, each dent or knock causing unique effects."

More importantly, Grid 2 remains all about the pure experience of the race itself. In fact, the core game philosophy being bandied about Codemasters’ Southam studio is ‘total race day immersion’. “What we’ve tried to do over the years, and even more in Grid 2, is broaden the experience; dirt racing, street racing, open road racing,” said Moody. “Elements get tied together into a much, much wider experience for the gamer, giving them something fresh to experience at every level of the game. I think that’s really important.”

GRID was a racing game that had great vehicle physics and a great vehicle selection. It was also aggressive enough that online play was lots of fun. I'm genuinely looking forward to the sequel.

As i now viewed this interview by the makers of the game, i'm a bit let down by this game already. They said they won't include the cockpit view this time, because it's too time consuming...and they say they asked gamers and they didn't use it much. I mean, WTF? Where did they get that information? I loved the cockpit view in Grid, it was great. You could also earn more points like that. By not including this view the game will be another NFS copy IMO.

I doubt they'll remove cockpit view, it was about the most celebrated bit of the game. Here's to hoping that the car selection is, oh, about 5 times the size of that for GRID 1, and that modifications are permitted to cars disciplines like Autocross, street racing, Time Attack ect (delete as appropriate depending on what ends up in the game)

"Only 5% of gamers use Cockpit view..."

Well that's a load of bollocks. Nearly every gamer I know that plays racing games uses cockpit view because it is more realistic than all the other views. I always use the cockpit view for any game that has it on.

Suddenly I have a large amount of hatred towards Codemasters. They are turning a fantastic series into a arcade piece of sh*t before the second game has even been released. First they ruined DiRT, now they have F1 All Stars, now this. It's obvious they want to appeal to the mindless retards of the gaming community so they will buy their game and they will get more money. If they release the cockpit view as DLC then that just proves my point. Hopefully, however, they will make it better and prove me wrong.

Only 10% of gamers are lefties, why include keyboard and mouse remapping too?

Really, it's very strange to hear that from company that positions itself as major racing developer.

I loved the cockpit view in grid, and all other codemasters games for that matter. Does this mean they'll be removing it from the f1 and dirt games then?

But showdown is more of a arcade style game, it doesn't have to have cockpit view. Grid is a pure racing game, not a mix of different, really non racing, motorsport types.

Never use cockpit view in racing/driving games myself unless i'm forced too so that doesn't affect me but it seems a silly decision to cut it out, perhaps even a lazy decision.

Most proper racing games have cockpit views, it's almost considered standard. Racing game enthusiasts tend to use cockpit view, which is why many people are so annoyed.

Whats the point really in having an option to drive with a steering wheel in this game if you can't use the cockpit view???
