In the town I grew up in, it was a lot more common to say hello to people. Where I live now, which is a slightly bigger town about five miles away, it doesn't happen so much.
For me, it was mostly old people who I'd say hello to. If it's in the morning, I'll nod and say "Morning". Otherwise I'll just say "Hi". It almost never happens with younger to middle aged people, but when it does, I usually just say "Alright(?)"
While I have no problem simply saying hello to strangers, I usually try to avoid actual conversations.

| QUOTE (ccrogers15 @ Friday, Aug 3 2012, 13:45) | | I hate when people i dont know say hi to me at stores. It annoys me. | Well actually I am an opposite of you. I love to meet new people and I love when people talk with me.

| QUOTE (Xcommunicated @ Friday, Aug 3 2012, 13:33) | However, one thing that will enrage me to no end is when some asshole either tells me to smile or has the nerve to ask why I look sad. I can 100% relate to this bit by Bill Hicks:

And I've responded like Larry David in this bit:

except I went with the less popular "go die in a fire" response, followed up with, "yeah, look who's frowning now". |
Aw man, I can't stand that. I've never had anyone say it to me in the street, but I still manage to come across these pr*cks all the time. My examiner said to me after I passed my driving test so I may just weird, but just because I'm pleased doesn't mean I have to have a big f**king grin on my face. I don't know, that whole muscle / energy sh*t with regards to smiling vs frowning, I think I've got it backwards. Frowning just comes a lot more naturally to me.

| QUOTE (Girish @ Friday, Aug 3 2012, 15:20) | A couple of weeks back this dude sitting opposite to me in the train started a convo with me stating that he liked my spectacles. I was like wtf? Then he started to ask me all sorts of stuff like my name, where I worked, my educational qualifications, etc. Luckily, I was getting down at the next stop. It was weird as f*ck.
I avoid speaking with strangers as much as I can, unless I desperately need help or I'm lost. Even on the train or bus, I avoid eye contact with others so as to not accidentally give off any vibe that I'm interested in communicating. |
| QUOTE | I had a guy who was supposedly a doctor put his hand in my mouth on the train once. I didn't even ask for an examination (I had a cough) and I didn't even have any time to react, he had already put his finger in. That was the weirdest thing ever.
I don't like random conversations with strangers either and not much with people I know as well. I hate it when people ask me stuff about my personal life because most of the time I have nothing to say, my life is boring. | lol This post has been edited by Versous on Friday, Aug 3 2012, 17:17
