I have had a problem with my Ford Escort. Most of the time, from 1600-1750 RPM, there is a grinding sound in the engine. It was there before, and we removed a couple heat shields (they were rusted and loose, causing the grinding). A couple weeks later, and the grinding is back again...

Like a grinding or more of a shutter?

More like a shutter.

Could be the engine mounts. I remember a friend of mine had a similar problem with his focus. The damn thing while cruising on the interstate would shutter between 1600-1750 and it was just strange.

How do you know it's okay, unless you've crashed it? SRS is the airbag.

I had a nice christmas light show on the V50's dash today:

SRS AIRBAG SERVICE URGENT
BRAKE FAILURE STOP SAFELY
POWER STEERING SERVICE REQUIRED
ANTI-SKID TEMPORARILY OFF

Funny thing is that it drives normally, traction control and power steering work ok, and all the messages dissapeared after less than a minute...

Yes. i've read it here
SRS is Supplemental Resteaint System. I think it's a problem with seat belts. But they are ok

It's not a problem with the seat belts, it's a problem with the airbag. I can tell you that categorically.

It could be seat occupancy sensor. You should also check connectors under the seat, i somehow managed to pull one of connectors on my Merc and got SRS too.

Now that I have my car back, I have got another problem. When my gas tank gets below half or so, the car comes close to stalling. When driving for five minutes or so, then coming to a stop, when I get going again, the engine sputters a bit until I get to second gear, or let up on the gas. I recently changed the timing belt, so is it a problem with the fuel pump, our could the engine just need retimed a bit?

Bit of a bump, but I've had a problem with my car's radio ever since I installed it. The wiring is all as it should be, but whenever I turn the volume as far up as it will go, I can only just barely hear any audio from the speakers, and it's so faint I can't even actually make out the specific song that is playing. I've tried it with FM, AM and a CD and all three were the same.

Any ideas on what I might have f*cked up? First guess would be that it isn't connected to the speakers properly, but I'd think if it was that, I wouldn't hear anything at all. Could there be a problem with the factory amplifier? It's exposed in the trunk, so it's easy to access should I need to test it.

A couple of wires need to be reversed. My friend installed cd players in a couple of E30's, and it's tricky. Had similar audio issues til he got it all figured out.

The turbo gauge in my 900 isn't moving ever since I had it serviced. Thoughts?
