The reason I haven't given up hope is because for some strange reason Rockstar won't just say it's not coming out in 2012. They don't even need to say when it will be released.

I think they're doing something much different than before. What if they're trying to completely finish the game before they give a release date? Maybe they're just tired of delaying games. I don't know what their issue is, but for some reason they don't want to tell people it's not coming out in 2012. The only reason they would do that is if their goal is to release it this year, but they want to be sure, or because they just don't want to talk about it at this moment(maybe because of MP3).

VC and SA barely had a few images at this point in the year they released, and those games came out in October. GTA IV had tons of media including multiple trailers, and there was so much hype, and then it was delayed. Why hype up a game if you're not sure you can deliver?

I still would bet money on a 2012 release.

What doesn't make sense to me is how can GTA V reach the projected numbers in one months time. If it is released on march 2013 then doesn't that only give them a month to reach their projections.

But its the only logical time frame at this point

All they need to sell is 10 - 15 million copies, and they can definitely do that in a month.

I think it will probably outsell GTAIV considering how expansive it is going to be with map, airplanes, multiplayer, etc. and GTAIV I think made $500 million in the first month. I could be wrong I don't have those figures in front of me, but it will be huge. In a way the financials sort of say it's farther away unless they are devaluing GTAV and erroring on the side of caution. Which going by Max Payne estimates it's just something they don't actually do. So yeah, March gives plenty of marketing space and makes the numbers not impossible.
It would also bleed 100's of millions of $ into the next year, which is pretty handy if they are banking on a new title like Agent for 2013/FY14.

Okay so....Max Payne 3 and DLC will gross, being very optimistic, maybe 300 million before the end of the fiscal year. So GTA needs to make 650 million in less then a month for a March release. Do people really think this game can make that much in less then a month?

It's just what happens when a GTA game get's released. 3+ million first day, double that for the first week, and by the end of the month 10 to 15 million copies sold.

That's the $650 million question isn't it?
Maybe with a full 30 days... kind of arrogant of T2 to evaluate it that high though. Lots of good games coming out.
Maybe just maybe Bioshock and GTA will p0wn February... just seems weird.

Okay so the GI cover wasn't GTA V but I mean if its coming out in 2013 then R* should have no problem telling us the release date. I mean 2013 would be a bit ridiculous since they already announced the game in late 2011, but i dont know. With R* anything is possible, but hope for a 2012 release is slim but given T2 financial situation it seems more plausible to release it Oct/Nov/Dec/Jan.

Lol just because their last GTA released in April doesn't mean it's 100% certain V will be in April too.

Yeah. It will be released in 2013 of course. But I don't think it will be released in April. Maybe in January or March.

I'm now considering it for realistic now. I think it will release between september and november 2013.

Yeah, everyone has their own opinion, but maybe Rockstar Games is watching us all the time on the forums, maybe if we shut up they will say something this week or next week, I mean maybe they could at least show us a few new screenshots or a new trailer, it has been nine months

A January release is one of the worst times you could put out a new product. It is right after Christmas, all the kiddies are enjoying their new stuff, and everyone else is burnt out of money from the holiday season. February is more realistic, but Bioshock is coming out that month and I don't think it is like TT to allow two AAA tittles to release in the same month, although it's plausible. March simply wouldn't give GTA enough time to make the numbers it needs, unless TT is fine with being 100 million or so off their projections.

There are Rockstar guys registered in the forum. Maybe they look on and think that the more we get frustrated the more we will wait. So let's all shut up..
