The idea of it is to get people working along side it in Photoshop by doing that, but this works just as nice, cheers mate!

Nice mimicking it, but if you want to get the most out of a tutorial try and branch out a little bit and make your own design. It's helped me out a lot in the end instead of replicating someone else's work.

i had a little go and i think this is a great tutorial, it helped me and i had good fun following it

The gradient with the blending mode to 'lighting' works best on darker colors.

@Nic_23 - Nice man, looks real sweet!

@Narcis_speed6 - It does indeed, that's what it's for after all. I find however if your trying to get an old film style overlay, it can be great for light colours too, especially when turning black into something a bit more vibrant (As seen on the clothes of Claude in my outcome.) In which case it works better than the actual overlay mode, which often makes the whole comp darker or too saturated, which is quite an annoyance.
