I'm afraid I can't.
May I ask, where are you from?
@ Woody: In fairness, he did use a hyphen between the two words so that actually voids the original definition, I suppose. Still, whilst meaning the same thing, "piece of cake" and "a walk in the park" are two different sayings. That's the way they should stay. | Well if thats the case then "cake-walk" is not common terminology at all, its something he more or less conjured up and assumed that his interperatation of the phrase was correct. We cant just go around placing hyphens in the middle of compound words and claiming they stand for something else. This isnt vietnam, there are rules. Cakewalk=common terminology Cake-walk=some stupid sh*t that !darkbluemullet! sh*t out of his brain ....im just giving you guys a hard time man

| QUOTE (darkbluemullet @ Wednesday, Aug 1 2012, 18:51) | Sigh Americans and their "we invented everything" attitude.
Cake-walk is a well known term, WORLD WIDE, that has many different connotations. Dean Koontz is someone I read a lot and has been an author for roughly 40 years or so, and has used the term lots (in the sense that I am using it) in his books. He is American by the way, so I will refrain from learning to wiki.
I'm from Scotland! | So dean koontz is a better source of information than wikipedia? A ma who writes fiction, and does so awfully anyhow. And come on dude, dont just immediately resort to the good old "stupid american" bit. Especially when its a term that is cited to have originated in america. Furthermore i made it very very clear that i was just busting your balls. Dont get your kilt all tied up in a knot over it

| QUOTE (darkbluemullet @ Wednesday, Aug 1 2012, 19:51) | Sigh Americans and their "we invented everything" attitude. | Erm...I'm Welsh. I've been alive for just over 24 years and in that time I have travelled a fair amount, I've met people from all kinds of places and not once have I ever heard the term "cake-walk". "A piece of cake"? Yes. "A walk in the park"? Yes. "Cake-walk"? No. The sayings "that's the way the cookie crumbles" and "sh*t happens" practically mean the same thing but people don't say "sh*t-cookie". Like Woody, I, too, am just yanking your chain. A word of warning though, I wouldn't go around saying stuff like that about our friends across the pond. Your welcome won't stay very warm for very long.
