Hello there,
I recently bought this game for my PS3, I ordered it off of GAME.co.uk, it was a brand new, sealed copy. The game was playing and working fine until I unlocked the second island, I think it is Algonquin (roughly 24/25% completion), once I travel to the second island, once I start travelling south, I reach roughly the centrepoint of the island and my game will freeze, every time! It doesn't make a difference whether I'm west or east side of the island, how im travelling, whether I'm in a police pursuit or not, it wont work! I've tried deleting and re-installing game data a dozen times over the last couple of days, I've tried everything. It's got to the point I've been tempted to fling my PS3 through my bedroom window, it makes it worse each of the missions available require me to travel beyond that halfway point. I'm getting seriously irritable with it now. I've tried everything that everyone has suggested other people with similar problems should try, with no avail! I was seriously hoping some of you guys would be able to help me out, my PS3 is running fine, no other games are crashing or freezing, it plays DVDs and CDs perfectly, the HDD is fine. I don't know what to suggest, I'm pulling my hair out! I am aware of multiple bugs and glitches within the game, but, as of now, I haven't come across any other PS3 user with this problem. I need to call Rockstar about other issues too, so if need be, I'll have to bring it up with them when I call some time later this week, but I was hoping I wouldn't need to do that.

Well, it's hard to suggest anything. Does GTA get installed on the hard drive? The only thing that comes to mind is that the game disk is not properly readable so it stalls at this given point. This can of course mean that either the game disk is damaged or that the unit has problems reading disks.

GTA is installed fine, there isn't a mark on the disc, its been in my PS3 twice for a few hours each time since I took the sealed packaging off. The system has no problems reading other discs, any other game works fine, DVDs and CDs play fine. This is severely brassing me off, I've had no problems with any game or the system up to this point.

Is that site realible? go down to a local game store or amazon.com or ebay.com. it cant be your ps3, its the game.

I have a feeling my Blu-Ray drive is on its last legs, since I created this topic, I backed up my game save and started again, it doesn't render things and then freezes, or the sound cuts out completely, and, just recently, I've been having similar issues with DiRT Showdown, things not rendering, certain aspects of the game not loading properly, freezing, sound cutting out completely. I will get the disk drive replaced and see how things go from there!
