Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Weapon GuideThis will be a full, detailed walkthrough about the weapons that can be found at San Andreas.First of all, there are some things that you should know about the weapons of the game.
1. All the weapons in this game have a fixed spawn point, Respawn in up to six (6) minutes. Meaning that any weapon can be aquired at any stage of the game. 2. San Andreas is the only GTA game with "weapon skill", which means that the more hits when you use a weapon, the better the skill becomes. 3. San Andreas was the first GTA game to introduce new things in the weapon system of the game, such as: - Accuracy - Strafing with most weapons (moving while you aim) - Moving while crouching - the necessity of having to aim with most of the weapons on, unlike Vice City and GTA 3. (Only on the PC version)Rules: 1. Any tips, errors, or writing errors you will find should be addressed to me in a PM.Well, now that we got that out of the way, let's start the walkthrough! NOTE: Item Locations mentioned herein (PC) are not all inclusive. There are many more item Locations to be found by EXPLORING. And, some Items may be taken as prizes from NPCs. The PS2 game has some different and more locations for some items.I. Melee weaponsThe melee weapons have made a return in San Andreas, and they keep the same status as in Vice. Strong, but useless againts guns. The good ol' puching and kicking is available at San Andreas too. Weak, but satisfying as hell. | Slot | Name | Damage: | RoF: | Range: | Weight: | Use Standing | Use Crouched | Strafe | Jump/Climb | Sprint |
|---|
| 1 | Fist | 1/5 | 2/5 | 1/5 | 5/5 | Yes | Yes* | N/A | Yes | Yes |
FREE (default) weapon. * If crouched when CJ attacks he will stand to punch. Note: If CJ is 'Wasted' or 'Busted' the cops or hospital will take everything and leave CJ with only his fists and money. On the PS2 game they will take $100 as well. To Keep your weapons when 'Busted' date Barbara the Cop. To keep your weapons when 'Wasted' date Katy the Nurse. An upgrade to the fist. Only problem: this weapon cannot be changed, unless you die or get busted by the police. | Slot | Name | Damage: | RoF: | Range: | Weight: | Use Standing | Use Crouched | Strafe | Jump/Climb | Sprint |
|---|
| 1 | Brass Knuckles | 1.25/5 | 2/5 | 1/5 | 5/5 | Yes | Yes* | N/A | Yes | Yes |
Quick FREE pickup under the bridge over Ganton Street. *When crouched CJ will stand to fight. The well known weapon is good for something else that playing baseball. It's good for beating people up! | Slot | Name | Damage: | RoF: | Range: | Weight: | Use Standing | Use Crouched | Strafe | Jump/Climb | Sprint |
|---|
| 2 | Baseball Bat | 2/5 | 2/5 | 2/5 | 5/5 | Yes | No | N/A | Yes | No |
Offered as a Mission pickup, "Cleaning the Hood". FREE pickup on the diamond across the street from Zero's Shop. The weapon used by officers. You know it. | Slot | Name | Damage: | RoF: | Range: | Weight: | Use Standing | Use Crouched | Strafe | Jump/Climb | Sprint |
|---|
| 2 | NightStick | 1/5 | 2/5 | 1/5 | 5/5 | Yes | No | N/A | Yes | Yes |
Quick FREE pickup prize: Any Police Officer. FREE pickup in the guardhut at the Movie Studio. FREE pickup in every enterable Police Station, (have Flowers in your hand.) This "stick" is used at, you guessed it, a pool game. It's the longest melee weapon, and it's also pretty good. | Slot | Name | Damage: | RoF: | Range: | Weight: | Use Standing | Use Crouched | Strafe | Jump/Climb | Sprint |
|---|
| 2 | Pool Cue | 1/5 | 2/5 | 2.25/5 | 4/5 | Yes | No | N/A | Yes | Yes |
FREE pickup: In any Bar after playing a game of pool. Same as the Pool Cue, but not as long. | Slot | Name | Damage: | RoF: | Range: | Weight: | Use Standing | Use Crouched | Strafe | Jump/Climb | Sprint |
|---|
| 2 | Golf Club | 1/5 | 2/5 | 2/5 | 4/5 | Yes | No | N/A | Yes | Yes |
FREE pickup, from many Angry Motorists. Burying corpses with this is easy. Too bad no feature like this is available in San Andreas. | Slot | Name | Damage: | RoF: | Range: | Weight: | Use Standing | Use Crouched | Strafe | Jump/Climb | Sprint |
|---|
| 2 | Shovel | 1.25/5 | 2/5 | 1.50/5 | 4/5 | Yes | No | N/A | Yes | No |
Quick FREE pickup in Ryders back yard. My favorite melee weapon. Small, but very dangerous if used right. This weapon can be used for stealth executions, which will make no noise. The damage varies. attacking someone from behind will make the best damage. | Slot | Name | Damage: | RoF: | Range: | Weight: | Use Standing | Use Crouched | Strafe | Jump/Climb | Sprint |
|---|
| 2 | Knife | 1.5/5 | 2/5 | 1/5 | 5/5 | Yes | Yes* | N/A | Yes | Yes |
*Crouch behind your target. Aim, if CJ raises his knife hand, shoot, for CJ to cut the target's throat. FREE pickup in a delivery bay behind the 'All Saints General Hospital' Just like the knife, but longer, and stronger. But one thing this weapon is good at, it can behead enemies in one slash, if used correctly. | Slot | Name | Damage: | RoF: | Range: | Weight: | Use Standing | Use Crouched | Strafe | Jump/Climb | Sprint |
|---|
| 2 | Katana | 2/5 | 2/5 | 1.50/5 | 4/5 | Yes | Yes* | N/A | Yes | Yes |
* CJ can crouch, but will attack standing. FREE pickup behind a fence at the rear of the 8-Ball Garage near Unity Station. Very heavy, but the damage and brutality of this weapon makes up all the weight of this weapon. | Slot | Name | Damage: | RoF: | Range: | Weight: | Use Standing | Use Crouched | Strafe | Jump/Climb | Sprint |
|---|
| 2 | Chainsaw | 5/5 | 5/5 | 1.5/5 | 1/5 | Yes | No | Yes* | No | No |
* You can aim and run at a target, but once you make contact you cannot move until you release the aim/attack button. FREE pickup in the Junk tyres near Unity Station. This post has been edited by lil weasel on Sunday, Sep 16 2012, 18:22

You will see whatever the ammo count was at game end, BUT when you 'run out' it will automatically reload. The Ammunition Glitch at the Ammu-Nation Store Range: (This is Not a Cheat.) While having the Tec-9 in CJ’s possession entering the Ammu-Nation challenge and immediately cancelling it will double the current ammo count of Assault Rifle, Rifle, Shotguns (except *the Standard shotgun), Sniper-Rifle, Pistol. After raising the ammo count you can pickup another Machine Gun. Each time you cancel the range test the ammo count doubles for the acceptable weapons. *Having the Standard shotgun in CJ’s possession will remove all shotgun ammunition. When the ammo count disappears you have over 9,999 rounds. You DO-NOT have infinite ammo, as soon as the count drops below 10,000 it will show again. Infinite ammo is earned ONLY by completing the game with 100%. The Skills Improvement Trick:(This is not a cheat.) You may improve the skill CJ has by parking vehicles in a Safe House Garage. You then shoot the Vehicle(s) until they start to burn. Walk away letting the Garage door close. The Garage will repair the vehicle. You may then repeat the process until the weapon reachs the desired level. Note: that, although high, the Garages do have a limit to the amount of repairs they can make. Well, that's it! The topic is now open for questions, error reports and tips!I'd like to thank: lil weasel- With his help this guide looks alot better. Rockstar Games- without them I couldn't do this guide at all Me- For creating this ZoomZoom- For the original idea and of course, you- for reading this! Thanks for replying, viewing and reading in advance! This post has been edited by Th3MaN1 on Saturday, Mar 2 2013, 15:24

Nice job on the pretty detailed topic here. Have some However, Are you sure about the reward for the Snapshots and Horseshoes-as I have been playing this game A LOT since 2006, and I have never seen money awarded for those? Unless that is a PS2 exclusive? I use V2 mainly and sometimes V3(the Steam version) for PC....Just curious on that? Also, a note on the mission "Just Business", after the mission ends, CJ is left with only like 60 rounds for the Micro SMG-no matter how much you had previously for some reason? For example, I usually have 5000+ rounds for the SMG(thanks to the Chain Game Armories) and after the mission I am left with a Micro SMG with only like 50 or 60 rounds... Also, to clear up any confusion that *may* come up on the Tags note above, the (94) is the number of tags done on your own, as 6 are done in a mission(Tagging up Turf)... Also, it is worth noting that in order to obtain the weapons in the police stations, have a melee weapon(or camera/spray/cane, etc.) showing BEFORE picking up a gun, so the gun is not shown upon pick up and thus no wanted level for displaying a firearm...

When I (v2 Pc) Collected all the Snap Shots & Horseshoes the $100,000 is rolling up in the counter while the Victory music is playing.
Holding the Flowers is safest when picking up weapons in the Police Stations to avoid getting wanted stars. |
Thanks a lot! I've now found the carpark and of course the bazooka. |
aaaaah memories i remember that bazooka spawn, not gone to get the bazooka there in 3 years but i remember it. *single tear* | Its always the small things that bring back the memories...
