Hi,

I've been playing San Andreas for about a week with no problems at all, and then yesterday I saved the game and it crashed telling me it had stopped working. Now I can't load that save file because it just crashes when it has finished loading. The white bar reaches the end and the screen fades to black, then for a split second I see 'Rockstar Games Presents' (what the hell is that about?!) and it says 'GTA San Andreas has stopped working.'

I started a new game and saved it after the first mission and it worked fine, but if I download any saved games none of them work.

Why is this happening to me?!

All drivers are fully updated, I've tried reinstalling the game, deleting the .set file but nothing works sad.gif

Here is my spec:

Intel Core i3 2120
8GB DDR3 1600MHz
Intel HD 2000 Graphics
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

The problem is with the save game you've downloaded. Sometimes, save games downloaded from websites can crash. I'd suggest you have your own save game. It won't crash the game.
Hope this helps smile.gif

how about some info on the game:
Which version did you buy?
Are the downloaded games you tried of the Same Version?
Did you (or someone else) mod the game?
Are you playing with the Installation DVD in the Drive?

Well, I have some question for him as well
1. Did your PC turn off/Restart when you saved the game ?
2. Did you save the game with some cheats enabled ?

It's version 1.0, the downloaded ones are the same version, I tried the ones on this website. I haven't downloaded any mods and I've got the CD in the drive. It didn't shut down or restart, just crashed and I've never used cheats.

Since you're not modding, have you tried the Official Patch V1.01?
You're sure you have the V1, Does the disc and or box have the Edition Number? Also, the lower right corner of the menu screen.
can you upload your save:
Samutz's Uploader/Downloader: http://www.gtasnp.com/
And paste the link here?

Your post says it all, it crashed while saving so it corrupted the savegame. Anything can cause a crash, even some Windows confusion, if you use no mods I'd suggest just trying a new game... Anyway most saved games online are V1.0, if you bought GTA SA after 2005 or from Steam you have versions 2 and 3 respectively so no V1 saves work.

Actually, that's false, as the LEGAL Download versions are V3-NOT V1.... tounge.gif

Where did you obtain this V1 copy, as V1 has not been sold since June of 2005?-I know this, as I got my copy back in June of 2005(from Wal-Mart #990) and it was V2...

Next, answer Lil Weasal's questions please....Also, 98 compatibility mode should help too...

It doesn't say anything in the bottom corner as to what version the game is, and I'm pretty sure it's version 1.0. I got the game from at a car boot, so I don't know where/when it was originally bought.

I tried installing the patch but when I click on the gta_sa.exe to patch, it says 'file contents do not match' and it closes.

Think I might have been given a fake copy? The CD and box looks legit though.

I tried running it in compatibility mode, but it didn't change anything.

Here is my save:

If you have a bootleg copy there's nothing we can do to help.
Is there a picture or lettering on the Disc?

It seemed like a simple question. What is depicted on the Game Disc you have?
Amazon.com has GTA:SA for around 10$US. You may need to buy a new copy.

If the disc doens't say Second Edition, then it is a First Edition V1.
Next step is to Uninstall the game.
The Save games will remain in the Documents files, as these should be untouched when uninstalling the game. Since you don't have any mods that isn't a worry either.
Possibly it's not the game save that is corrupted, it might be the game itself. Especially since you were unable to apply the Official Patch V1.01.
After you have it uninstalled. Reboot the computer, and then check to be sure the gta_sa.set file is deleted. Reinstall the game.

Upload if you can your 'corrupted' game save to: Samutz's Uploader/Downloader: http://www.gtasnp.com/
and paste the link here. So someone can take a look at it.

I've already tried reinstalling the game and it didn't fix anything, and I already posted my game save in an earlier post

We can't help if you have a cracked game.
I'd suggesst you get your drive looked into that crack may be part of if not the reason for your problem.
We could spend hours trying to fix the game when nothing is really wrong.
When you have it fixed and the disc working in it, should you in the unlikely event still have a problem you may return for help.
