| QUOTE (Coat. @ Sunday, Aug 5 2012, 21:57) | You set an alarm 2/4/6 hours after sleep to interrupt REM (rapid-eye-movement). Get up, go to the bathroom, come back and lay in bed and close your eyes. Like NikoGTA4 said, don't move your fingers or arms and your eyes. It may be difficult to trick your body to fall asleep, but, with a few techniques it can be simple. Usually, if you wake up during REM and do this, there should be no problem to get SP. A few minutes after laying there, your body tests to see if you're still awake; it sends an itch or urge. Whatever you do, do not move. This is the climax of the experience. The urge or itch is usually very strong and powerful and in some cases, overwhelming. This is when you can use an object or thought to pull that urge away. For example, focus on your name and try to listen for it as if someone is calling it; make it sound real. Another technique of distraction (TOD) is playing a song you know in your head over and over until you think you can actually hear it playing. You should soon be in SP, and you can test by imagining a fresh apple pie out of the oven, and you should be able to smell it.
Your body is paralyzed right then and there. This is where you might want to (leave your body; mind) and it is possible. Since your hands are laying beside your body, try to imagine phantom hand moving an inch each time WITHOUT moving your muscles. Don't be shocked by this, because the feeling is real. If your moving your hands at this time, these are your phantom hands and you know you are in full blown SP. As you are moving your hand, try to look into the blackness of your eyelids (if you can't see anything yet). Continue moving your phantom hands and let your mind wander off slightly to grab a visual but don't drift off too far otherwise you'll fall to sleep. Use the phantom hand as a lure when your mind is wandering. If you're mind wanders too far, remember you are moving your phantom hands and you should quickly be pulled back into self realization. When you realize your mind was todding off, a strange feeling moves over your body and usually you may see things.
Another technique of having an (OOBE) is after using the phantom hands, imagine your body is rotating 360 degrees. After you feel it rotate, roll to your side of the bed towards th ground and usually, what happens to me after this, is I see my bedroom. Try to stay in your bedroom for some time being, to get use to your exit location. Otherwise, you can't go too far as well. I tried to leap out the window but was pulled back into my bedroom (I wasn't ready to leave). | Pretty much what I said. Although I've never experienced thouse "phantom hands".

I think there is a possible explanation as to why we experience this sleep paralysis.
1. When you sleep, your mind is in a dream state, producing anything you think up of in your head. So, when you suddenly wake up, you can see your real life surroundings BUT the mind is still in a dream state and still producing the thought that you were having(usually scary frightening thoughts). So, with this in mind, the two images are molded together and hence, you seem to see some shadowy figure or a devil or whatever, scaring you.
2. Now the 2nd one may not be so obvious but if you believe in dimensions other than our own(more than 3 dimensions), then it is possible, that when we sleep our subconcious state of mind enters a different dimension. Usually you cant remember dreams. If you believe in devils, jinn etc existing, you would know they exist in dimensions different to ours. Sooo when you wake up, your mind is still in the other dimension, BUT your body isn't. Thats why you cant move and see these things. At that point, our and the other dimension crosses together, for a brief moment, creatures from both dimensions could interact. Whatever you see exists, but in a different dimension.

| QUOTE (El Zilcho @ Monday, Aug 6 2012, 03:07) | | QUOTE (goin-god @ Monday, Aug 6 2012, 04:05) | | We explained how in the other page. |
The other method detailed has also produced no results for me, largely due to the fact that once I awake it is usually to get up, and if not, I need to move to deactivate an alarm. Hence the "Wake Back To Bed" method (as it's known usually) is difficult to pull off... | I understand what you're getting at, but not to worry, they're are many ways of techniques. Basically, you're telling me that it's too much trouble to get up, let alone turning off the alarm. This following technique may work, and can be found on Youtube. Alright, I'm guessing you understand the stripped, plain routine of an 'OBE'. It goes in order from- Mind awake---- Body asleep & Mind awake---- Vibrations & hallucinations ---- Separation It all sounds like cake and butter, but it's far from that. It may vary from easy to almost impossible- but it's not your ability, it's your mind set. Never underestimate your powers of the mind- be confident, it's an important key. To be placed into that mind set, write out on paper, "I'm going to have an out of body experience NOW" about 50-100 times. It's a lot like the Lucid Dreaming technique were you reality test yourself throughout the day, asking yourself, "Am I dreaming". You can look all over the internet and not find legit guides. I'm not being cocky, but if you need to ask a question, ask it on here and we'll try to answer. Anywho, back to the guide- Buy a cooking clock (I think that's what it's called) from Walmart for like 6-7 dollars. You might ask, what is a cooking clock going to help me, but it will. Before you go to bed, plan 4 hours ahead of after you have fallen asleep. Set the cooking clock alarm to go off 4 hours after sleep. Now, these cooking clocks usually have a ringing duration, meaning. Alarm set for 12---- alarm set off at 12 with 15 beeps & alarm automatically stops---- 10 mins later, alarm goes off again and so on... The cooking clock alarm will ring for a few beeps, then stop itself, you'll drift off back to sleep and it'll ring again and again and you'll subconsciously know when it's going to beep next- but the trick is, it stops ringing and your body lightly wakes up, expecting to hear the alarm but doesn't. This will put you in 'The Zone' and use the mind distraction techniques in my other posts on the previous page. If you use the mind distraction techniqu, you should have sleep paralysis almost guaranteed. I'll find the Youtube vide which goes into detail with this technique later.
