I woke up one morning and wanted to play my GTA IV, and got this little error saying "Could not right license data". I google searched it, but can't seem to find a solution.
I've tried to do the cmd prompt thing that you do to delete SecuROM (rd /s "%APPDATA%\SecuROM" in the cmd prompt(even as admin)), but it says that file does not exist.
I really need help because I want to play GTA IV. any help will do! sigh.gif

There should be a "revoke license" shortcut in the game folder and in the GTAIV start menu program group. Use it to revoke the license and then run the launcher to activate the game again.

First, Is this the Retail(DVD) version OR a Downloaded version?
If Downloaded, from where?
If Retail, Is this the Original DVD being used OR a No-DVD Crack, OR a Copy of said DVD?
Any Mods/trainers?
Any Daemon tools or the like installed on PC?-these can cause problems with games...

This may be down to your UAC settings or security software you have installed.

The weird thing about it is, GTA4 Vanilla works just fine. I'm having the same issue with Crysis, too.

you could try the work around that mkey recommended to me two years ago after i upgraded my pc hardware and started having protected storage issues with gta 4 uac workaround

Well, you can try doing what hugh suggested, but I don't think that's a "protected storage" problem. What's the exact error you're getting? A screenshot would be helpful.

It's sorted now. SecuROM Support emailed me an updated LaunchEFLC.exe file, and it worked.
