If you're only only talking about GTA IV then maybe, but VC and SA had similar marketing to GTA V. Maybe Rockstar went back to their old ways and is doing as little marketing as possible, and then they'll ramp it up in August.

Vice City was announced in May 2002, the first screenshot was July 3rd, more screens in August, and the first trailer was August 27th.

San Andreas was announced in March 2004, the first screens in May, more between July 24th and Aug 20th, and the first trailer was August 20th.

Both games came out in late October the same year they were announced.

Common sense would tell ya' R* could release the release date today and the game was set to release the first of August and everybody would buy it.

R* could simply release tons of info next week, this weekend, next month, and everyone would be hyped. It's R* for crying out loud!
