Well friend, I can't for any real reason figure out why a man such as yourself would limit his opportunities to foreign affairs. It's obvious from your repertoire of skills that you are not lacking in any developmental skillsets, and with a high school diploma I'm sure you could land a loan from your parents for a good $20,000. From there, you could network to local business, start a conglomerate on the local business area once you make enough money, then outsource your jobs to foreigners for cheaper trade. It's simple American economics, friend. It works, and it's the American way.

Lol what's your deal dude, are you a Mitt Romney impersonator? I read that entire paragraph in his monotone robot voice.

I think I found myself a new sig lol.gif

EDIT: f*ck, doesn't work.

EDIT 2: I can't f*cking believe this was my 4,00th post...

Actually I am a student undertaking an IT Major. The visa just says "Work Limitation". Nothing much. We are only allowed to work 40 hours per fortnight. Also I am looking at the basic sectors like the IT support/help desk probably.

40 hours per fortnight?

You in Australia?

Yup, Its just been 1 week here since I arrived to Perth.

When you say IT Major what does that cover, what specific area (multimedia, software, networking)?

I am studying Cyber Forensics, Security and Information Management. The classes will just start at Monday. But I'm thinking to change my course to Computer Science later on, since I believe programming is what I like to do most.

As long as you can turn it into intelligent wording relating directly to the job your applying for, no don't bother. If you can make it sound relevant, do it.

Personally experience though, a CV won't get you the job. CV's only decide who to interview. It's the interview that gets you the job.

QUOTE (chris @ Jul 27 2012, 18:06)
"At home i enjoy spending my spare time creating modifications for video games, i became interested in modding after deciding my ideas would be great to have in game. I build character models from the ground up and set myself deadlines to ensure i stay on target with my workload, i enjoy seeing my ideas being brought to life and i set myself high standards so that i can fine tune my skills."

If i was an employer and somebody sent me that i'd think, well he is dedicated to his interests, he has good time keeping in finishing his projects, he's well organised, interested in improving his ability and has a creative personality, i'd then put it in the 'people we need to interview' pile because in an office enviroment timekeeping, organisation and working under pressure are all applicable qualities that they will be looking for.

Good luck lad.

You guys are right. I am quite nervous being here and confused about the lifestyle here. I should maybe first consider building my social and communicative skills.

If you're confused about the lifestyle, consider making some friends (if you're a social person smile.gif). You might even be able to get some help from GTAF guys who are from Perth. Piperka's from Perth afaik.

Just don't put it down as actually "modding games"

Put it down as experience with modelling/graphical design/programming in (enter progrgamming language).

I.o.w. Lie.

Do people really make and need resumes at age 19?

I work in IT(slightly under 20yrs now) and I get to read a lot of resumes and hire people.

If you want to include game modding in your resume put it as real experience and label it as "Freelance programming". For the details list the various software packages and programming languages you used. If you worked as part of team be sure to include that in the summary section. Don't say you modded video games - word it something like "reverse engineered existing video game code."

If I had your resume and saw the 'reverse engineered video games' I would probably bring you in for round 2. Then you could open up and go into details of modding. Potential employers like to see people passionate about stuff. Also most people in IT are my age and there is a good chance they have some sort of gaming background.

Well, at least you'll need to list/show the work you have done from either a job or school.

I thought that was done on that standards 'Tops' job application form tounge2.gif. 'Just f*cking around. I guess if you bypass all the growing up jobs then you might just need a real resume at 19.

If you did put it down, I wouldn't say you "modded games," but rather list your level of knowledge in programs that you used for modding, such as 3DSMax or C++ or whatever.

Most of what they'll be looking for is your formal education though.

This exactly. Word things as they look in your "personal experience" and interests. I do a lot of woodworking as a hobby, and have that on my resume as a skill and interest. Just because you haven't done something professionally, but still do it and enjoy doing it, it could be worth putting on a resume. It shows that you have an interest and outside experience in a related field.
