Since they have covered 1984, 1986, 1992 and 1998, I doubt we'll see a GTA in the 80's - 90's ever again, so the only options left are 60's and 70's. Do you think that will work for a GTA?

I can't say if R* will make game set in the past or would it work for them, but I can tell you that I will like to see such a game. As I said in one of the previous topics GTA set in '70 after the Vietnam war, with all this feel of failure in the air, drugs, dying (not in terms of body failure, but in terms of death of ideas) hippies, last gas guzzling cars that were rolling asphalt with their tires, with gas crisis on the horizon would be most sweetest thing on the planet.

It would still be possible to have a game set in the IV era that is set in the past. I think that seeing Las Venturas or Vice City in the IV set in the past would be cool.

I don't think we will, but I'm pretty sure we'll see other Rockstar games dive into those eras, which is fine by me.

Well the inclusion of the cell phone being a main part of the game in IV has almost prevented the game going past the early 2000's. I guess we'll see, but I have to say I think it's unlikely.

Cell phone can be easily replaced with combination of pager and payphones, which will be intersting experience. I don't remember seeing any cell phones in RDR and the game was great.

Newspaper and magazines could take internet's place and you could get mails instead of emails.

I don't think there will be a GTA set later than the '80s. GTA was always about modern times. I'm not even sure we'll see a game set in the past again, I don't think that's what the majority of fans\players want.

I personally wouldn't mind seeing a GTA game in the 60s. They'd have tons of stuff to lapoon in that decade. The Civil Rights Movement, hippies, biker gangs, Vietnam war, B-movies, the moon landing, the Kennedy assassination, psychedelic rock and more..

They could still do a 80s or 90s themed game. I have to admit long befoe GTA V was announced I wanted to see early/mid 80s LS just when street gangs were making their presence known.

I think they'll do it sooner or later. Don't think they'll make a game set in the 60s and 70s though, unless it's a secondary GTA game. To bad that there aren't any secondary GTA games (spin-offs) these days.
