I stopped drinking sodas

This is a must. Fizzy drinks and whatnot are so so so bad, not just for weight gain, but they damage your teeth and your insides. Seriously bad all round.

Drink lots of water, should get rid of thirst pangs which lots of people mistake for hunger pangs. Also Gum and/or Mints come in handy when you feel peckish.

my friends keep wanting me to come with them for some sweets and chilling in the woods - I always come with and think "I'll just have a pack of gum and a pepsi max" but end up with an equal amount of sweets as them. It's easy to lay off the sweets on your own, but once you start turning down friends...

I eat just as much crap as the next guy. I don't go to a gym or anything. I'm convinced that basic movement is all most people need to stay trim. Basically - don't be lazy. Don't find excuses to not get off the couch.

If you can take the steps instead of the escalator, take the steps. If the corner store is only 2 blocks away - don't get in your car and drive...walk. Actually, walk anywhere you can.

Like I said - I have the ability to eat crap. I think the key is not to live on it. You can still enjoy all the sh*t food and endless snacks you want if you make a small effort to eat simple home prepared meals on a semi-regular bases.

Who the heck goes into the woods to eat sugar‽ Is the FDA cracking down on sweet-tooths in your neighborhood?

If you're hanging out with friends I'm sure they won't mind if you don't eat. If you think you'll get hungry just stick a granola bar or something in your pocket.

I've been trying to lose weight by playing video games, watching TV, and eating microwave burritos. It's not working yet, but I'm not about to be called a quitter.

I lost about 20 Kilos from the New Year. Yeah, 8 months might look a little long, but i wasn't practicing like a beast. It was an easy diet, no fat food, no long loaf, sh*tloads of water everyday and practice everyday. Haven't seen if this was written in here, but you need to lose more calories than you gain a day.

I'd honestly say that if your friends actually gave a crap as to whether or not you drank Pepsi Max and chewed gum with them, then you'd probably be better off finding some new friends.

As for losing weight, well, the ones who nit the hail(s) on the head were Irviding, Max, trip and Fnorg, and if you combine the advice they offered (eating less, manning up and taking responsibility about your weight, eating less, taking different opportunities to exercise a bit more, eating less) you'll be as golden as a tacky Arab's Bentley. Losing weight is as much of a lifestyle change as it is a temporary effort to simply cut fat; there's no point saying, "Oh, yeah, I'm going to lose x number of pounds," and then once you've lost that weight you return to your previous diet and (lack of) exercise, because then you'll end up just where you are now, if not worse. That, and that alone, is the reason why most diets fail after a couple of months, because you simply have that mentality that you're only doing this temporarily to lose your baby fat, when it really should be a moment where you reflect on where your health is going, and then alter your lifestyle and level of self-respect accordingly, not just your diet and level of exercise.

I can assure you that losing weight and actually enveloping a healthy lifestyle (one where you could, say, occasionally gore on food like a man-horse and still look relatively healthy) is 99% mental work and 1% physical, the mental work primarily revolving around convincing yourself, like, seriously convincing yourself to restrict your caloric intake and to BE CONSISTENT, and the physical work comprising the actual act of going out there and walking once in a while.

Good luck, though, it's easier than you think.

Think I'm about to start a strict diet of meth and steroids. If my calculations are correct, I should be looking like an 80's arnie by next week. 2 weeks tops.

The key to fat loss is cardio and cutting your calorie & sugar intake. MOVE your body and eat more greens. It has worked for me.

That was an estimate in fairness, i know it's sub 10 since it was 8% a few months back but i haven't had as much work as usual so i've not been eating as much either i just assumed it would drop to the bare minimum since i don't have a pick of fat on me, i do know i weigh 174 though and i haven't grown biggrin.gif

You must be in decent shape mate, i wouldn't mind putting on another stone of muscle but when it comes to lifting and stuff i'm an amateur when it comes to the gym, i've been doing my homework on it though, just waiting for work to pick up so i can get a gym pass and start fullfilling my potential.

Who the hell estimates themselves 2% bodyfat?

Liars, that's who. Don't even need to try and cover up, to be frank.

Pull-ups and push ups. Simple as that. You can do variations to focus on different muscle groups, but I dunno what your target is. There are also plenty of lower body workouts, but most guys want to start off with their upper body anyway. I've worked on both for myself.

And about controlling yourself? Get a grip on yourself mate, how do you discipline yourself? How do you say no? How do you choose the right option? You just need to start, keep at it, appreciate it, and respect yourself enough to make the choice you want for yourself. Mental fitness is most essential.

Push ups will only help at the start, but after that you will need more weight, use a backpack full of heavy stuff or something heavy to bench press, barbells , dumbells and discs aren't the only things you can use for lifting.

Do you like your meat? If you do then you might really enjoy Dukan diet’s weight loss solutions. Low-carb, high-protein; the diet encourages you to eat healthy portions of meat, seafood, chicken, eggs and cut down on your intake of carbs. It’s a fun diet and I’m pretty sure you’ll enjoy it.

I'm roughly 6ft 1 and probably weigh around 220lbs but when I tell people that, they don't believe me because I don't really look that heavy. I think a lot of it is muscle because that does weigh more.

I noticed when I stopped drinking fizzy drinks, I lost a little bit of weight and felt better in myself. I eat fairly healthy and I do my fair share of exercise - I've even joined a gym now and I am in pain to say the least.

The main thing I would say is substitute fizzy drinks/sodas with something else. I find if I drink something like flavoured water, I don't need the need for soda because flavoured water tastes rather nice.

Another thing is snacking. Having snacks between meals can increase your weight and I lost a bit of weight cutting out snacks and had slightly bigger meal portions.
