| QUOTE (AlexGTAGamer @ Saturday, Aug 11 2012, 23:04) | Woo, major congrats to you Mo.
Also congrats to Usain Bolt too for smashing a World Record.
And to think that the closing ceremony is around the corner. The Spice Girls, Jessie J and George Michael are confirmed, The Who (yes you heard right), Madness, Muse, Kate Bush, and the one and only Mr. Brian May are all rumored to perform. | the spice girls? what the f*ck?! anway great run by Mo, fantastic moment, and what a run by te Jamaicans, was never in doubt

the spice girls? what the f*ck?! |
From what I've heard, the closing ceremony is going to (mainly) be a big celebration of the history of British music. You might not like them, but you can't say that the Spice Girls weren't a massive part of the British music scene in the 90s. As someone who doesn't really follow a lot of sport with enthusiasm, I've gotta say I'm quite sad the games are nearly over. In the run up to the games starting I was prepared to mock it and revel in gloriously British cynicism and national shame, but right from the get go with the opening ceremony it's been absolutely fantastic. Coverage has been amazing (if you wanted to watch some obscure event or match between countries nobody's even heard of, you could), there haven't been any major f*ck ups barring one or two blips with judge's calls in some events, the British competitors have done great things and most impressively it's managed to get the British public to stop whining and bitching for two weeks and just accept that sometimes we're actually good at doing things. I'm not sure what sort of legacy it will leave behind but it looks pretty bright. The Olympic park is largely going to hang around as a refurbished home for sport, with lot of places becoming training venues and things like that. We've learned that the city of London can apparently handle large volumes of extra traffic on public transport and not grind to a complete halt, and also that even if the private sector f*cks up (G4S) a number of our public sector organisations can be competent in logistics. We might not have got the most medals, but we certainly did ourselves proud and smashed a number of domestic records. Hopefully some of the role models that the games have given us can help "Inspire a generation" into more sport, even if Cameron's government is simultaneously orchestrating the sale of school playing fields and cutting education while trying to enforce mandatory PE schemes in schools. For the TLDR crowd, hers Mo Farah and Usain Bolt being awesome together: This post has been edited by Robinski on Sunday, Aug 12 2012, 13:38
